Today, we recognize the National Day for Truth and Reconciliation.
We honour the Survivors of residential schools, the children who never returned home, and the families and Indigenous communities who continue to carry the lasting impacts of the residential school system.
At Banff Avenue Community House, we recognize that reconciliation is an ongoing journey, one that requires us to listen, learn, reflect, and take meaningful action.
Today and every day, we encourage our community to continue learning, honouring Indigenous voices and histories, and contributing to a future rooted in respect and understanding.

🧡 Every Child Matters.

Today, Banff Avenue Community House recognizes Orange Shirt Day and honours the Survivors of residential schools, the children who never returned home, and the families and communities who continue to carry their impacts.
Orange Shirt Day reminds us that every child deserves to be valued, protected, heard, and supported. As a community, we share a responsibility to listen, learn, reflect, and contribute to the ongoing work of reconciliation.
Today and every day, Every Child Matters. 🧡

✨ Open House Recap ✨
Thank you to everyone who joined us for our Open House! 💙
It was wonderful to welcome community members, families, partners, and friends into our space, reconnect with familiar faces, meet new ones, and share more about the programs, services, and opportunities available at Banff Avenue Community House.
Days like this remind us how special our community is and how important it is to create spaces where people can connect, learn, share, and feel a sense of belonging.
A big thank you to our staff, volunteers, partners, and everyone who helped make the day possible. We’re looking forward to another exciting season ahead! 🌟

A huge thank you to Prezdential Basketball for supporting our summer basketball programming at Ridgemont High School! 🏀💙
Throughout the summer, their team helped provide youth with opportunities to stay active, build their basketball skills, and connect through sport. We are especially grateful for their support in launching our girls-only basketball program on Fridays, creating a dedicated space for girls to learn the fundamentals of basketball, build confidence, and develop their skills on the court.
Thank you, , for investing in our youth and helping make these opportunities possible! 🙌🏽

⚽ Summer Soccer at BACH!
A huge thank you to Ottawa Internationals Soccer Club for partnering with us to deliver a six-week soccer program for children in our community this summer!
Each week, two coaches joined our kids to introduce the fundamentals of soccer, help them develop their skills, stay active, build confidence, and most importantly, have fun together on the field. 💙
We are grateful to for sharing their time, expertise, and love of the game with our young participants and for helping us create another meaningful summer experience at BACH. ⚽🙌🏽

‼️ VOLUNTEER DRIVERS NEEDED ‼️

We’re looking for volunteer drivers, can you help?

Feed The City works with community food banks across Ottawa to provide home delivery for neighbours who face barriers to accessing emergency food in person.

Volunteer shifts are flexible, usually about an hour, and you choose what shifts you want, when you’re available. Pick up the food, make the deliveries, and head home knowing you helped make access to emergency food possible for someone who needed it.

Interested in volunteering? Sign up at www.feedthecity.ca 📦 🍏
