Cuban-Canadian Association of Ottawa Gatineau Cuban Canadian of Ottawa/Gatineau's Association! is a non - profit, non political organization founded in Ottawa on July 25, 2009

Cuban Canadian Association Ottawa-Gatineau! our objectives are:
To gather more than 300 Cuban families in the Ottawa - Hull area and all persons with the same interest. To help bring communities together to promote compassion, partnership, cooperation and community service. To familiarize our children either born here or in Cuba with their cultural heritage. To promote and organize all types of events that will help in the achievement of point 1, 2 and 3 above such as dance parties, sport event, movies and cultural activities of different nature (paints, music and others). To Increase, promote and foster friendships by raising the public knowledge level and understanding of Cuba culture and history. To promote better understanding and relations between the peoples of Cuba and Canada . To promote, organize and conduct carnivals, festivals, musicals, performing arts, seminars and symposia addressing current issues of interest. Plan and arrange scholar and student exchange programs among institutions of different cultures and disseminate knowledge through scholarly publications. Grant scholarships to students, and to help support victims of disasters and people in need. Cooperate with other organizations which have similar objectives in whole or in part to ours. Enhance the multicultural dialogue in Canada. Contribute to Canadian society by encouraging and organizing volunteer activities,

Gracias infinitas a todas esas personas que en los momentos mas dificiles de nuestra Patria, nos dan su granito de arena para alibiar un poco la asfixiante y restringida medidas económicas impuestas por los Estados Unidos AL PUEBLO DE CUBA. (Niños, Mujeres y Ancianos) y personas vulnerables

🇨🇺🇲🇽🇺🇾 El buque Asian Katra ha hecho arribo a puerto cubano procedente de México, transportando un importante cargamento de ayuda solidaria enviado por el gobierno y las asociaciones civiles de la nación azteca, así como por el pueblo de Uruguay.

La embarcación trae consigo 1.700 toneladas de insumos esenciales para abastecer a la población, entre los que destacan arroz, frijol y leche. Este envío constituye el octavo cargamento que recibe la isla proveniente de México, reforzando una vez más los históricos vínculos de amistad, hermandad y cooperación que unen a ambos países.

En nombre del pueblo de Cuba, el Ministro de la Industria Alimentaria, Alberto López, saludo con profundo agradecimiento la llegada de este apoyo. El ministro extendió su reconocimiento a cada uno de los tripulantes y autoridades que han hecho posible esta noble misión, destacando que el gesto llega directamente al corazón de los cubanos.

Labour Stands with Cuba!
Composite Resolution: Solidarity with Cuba
The General Committee recommends concurrence in the following composite resolution, covering resolutions: ER-01, ER-03, and ER-06.
The Canadian Labour Congress will engage with Prime Minister Mark Carney and Members of Parliament to:
• demand that Canada take immediate action to support the people of Cuba through increased humanitarian and solidarity aid;
• make diplomatic efforts, together with other countries, to end the United States blockade on oil and other measures impacting the Cuban people;
and
• publicly reaffirm Canada’s commitment to the principles of sovereignty, non-intervention, self-determination of peoples, and respect for human rights;
The Canadian Labour Congress will:
• undertake, and encourage affiliates to undertake, solidarity campaigns with Cuban workers and unions, including the Workers’ Central Union of
Cuba;
• make a financial contribution to the Canadian Network on Cuba and encourage affiliates to support and participate in the organization’s solidarity and educational work;
• call on the Canadian labour movement to continue learning from, supporting, and building solidarity with the Cuban people and Cuban workers.

🇨🇺 Cuba acaba de recibir un importante respaldo. La Isla ha sido elegida como uno de los 17 miembros del Comité General de la 79 Asamblea Mundial de la Salud, un reconocimiento al esfuerzo y la resistencia del sistema sanitario cubano, a pesar del brutal recrudecimiento del bloqueo y el cerco energético impuesto por el gobierno estadounidense.

➡ La viceministra Tania Margarita Cruz Hernández encabeza la delegación cubana que asiste a este evento en Ginebra, hasta el próximo 23 de mayo.

📌 En paralelo al trabajo en la Asamblea Mundial de la Salud, la vicetitular de salud en la isla sostuvo un encuentro en la sede suiza de Naciones Unidas con el ministro de salud de Sudáfrica, Aaron Motsoaledi, donde ambas partes destacaron los profundos lazos históricos de hermandad que unen a sus pueblos desde la lucha contra el Apartheid. El representante sudafricano enfatizó la admiración mundial hacia el sistema de salud cubano basado en la atención primaria y trasladó la solidaridad y el apoyo firme de su nación contra el cerco impuesto a la Isla.

➡ De igual modo, la viceministra primera cubana sostuvo un productivo encuentro con el ministro de Salud de China, Lei Haichao, para fortalecer la cooperación bilateral en el sector, lo que demuestra que, pese a las agresiones de Washington, la solidaridad y el reconocimiento hacia Cuba siguen creciendo en el mundo.
