🌟 It’s Time to See Our Impact: The National Black Hair Care Drive is Here! 🌟

Back in December, we raised $640 to support this important cause, and now it’s time to see how far our efforts can go for Black survivors of GBV. This week, we’re coming together for the National Black Hair Care Drive to continue our efforts to ensure that Black survivors have access to the culturally affirming hair care they deserve.

🗓️ When: February 24th - 28th, 2025
📍 Where: the office, Ottawa is the closest drop-off point for our community.
(601-250 City Centre Ave, K1R 7R7)

✨ Why It Matters:
Hair care is more than beauty—it’s about identity, healing, connection, and empowerment. Unfortunately, many Black survivors face barriers to accessing culturally appropriate hair care products in shelters and other GBV services. This initiative bridges that gap, fostering dignity and community care.

👉🏾How You Can Help:
🔸 Donate new, unopened Black hair care products or funds.
🔸 Drop-Off your donations at OCTEVAW in Ottawa or another designated location (listed in the post)
🔸 Spread the Word to amplify healing through Black hair care.

Let’s come together to make a difference—one curl, coil, and loc at a time. 💫💛

✨ Celebrating a Legend: Madame C.J. Walker ✨

Today, we honor the trailblazer who redefined beauty standards and created a legacy of empowerment—Madame C.J. Walker. 💫

As the first American woman to become a self-made millionaire, Madame C.J. Walker revolutionized black haircare with her innovative products, built an empire, and empowered generations of Black people to take pride in their natural beauty. 💁🏾‍♀️✨

Her commitment to quality, community, and self-love set the foundation for the haircare industry we know today. From her iconic Wonderful Hair Grower to her vision of economic independence for black women, Madame C.J. Walker’s impact is unmatched.

We remember her not just as a businesswoman, but as a force of change, who paved the way for so many of us to thrive. Her legacy lives on in every curl, every twist, and every black-owned brand empowering our community. ✊🏾
