Genesis Dog Rescue is a small non-profit rescue founded in Ottawa and Belleville, ON in June 2011 by Tracy Charsley and Amy Cameron. We are an all breed, all size rescue. We are a foster based rescue which means any dog in care with us is in a loving foster home and not in a kennel environment as we believe they have gone t
hrough enough in their lives that it is time for them to start a new life in the way all dogs should. All our foster families are devoted to showing and teaching dogs in care how to be part of a family and feel love. We are so appreciative of our foster families and we are truly a small family here at Genesis. Our adoption process is fairly extensive so we make sure every dog is going to their forever home although if any dog needs to be returned we will always take them back no questions asked. Our adoption process includes initial phone conversation with potential adopter and foster family to determine if initially it could be a good fit. If we determine it could be a good fit then we conduct reference checks which include a vet reference and 3 personal references as well as a home visit. Then depending on the dog in care and if the potential family has a dog already we have scheduled meet and greets with family and their pets to give opportunity for pets to bond and so the adopters can take the dog out for walks and get to see temperament in the foster home where the dog is comfortable. If all is approved to this point then the family has option to adopt. All our dogs in care are adopted with all vaccinations, spayed/neutered or on a spay/neuter contract if a puppy. All dogs are dewormed and will be HW tested and will be on HW preventative. Our dogs are seen by vet and any information will be disclosed to the potential adopter on medical history. In order for Genesis to continue to provide all medical needs to all our dogs in care, an adoption donation for any dog adopted is required from the adopter. This donation is considered non-refundable as it all goes back to help dogs in our care.
