The RCMSA extends its sincere condolences to the family and friends of Sgt (Ret'd) Robert “Bob” McKenty, CD, who passed away on 29 May 2026.

Bob served for 26 years with the Royal Canadian Air Force Medical Branch and was a valued member of our broader health services community. His years of service and dedication will be remembered by those who had the privilege of serving alongside him.

We honour his service and extend our thoughts to his loved ones during this difficult time.

Bob a servi pendant 26 années au sein de la Branche médicale de l’Aviation royale canadienne et faisait partie de la grande communauté des services de santé. Son dévouement et ses années de service demeureront dans les mémoires de ceux et celles qui ont eu le privilège de le connaître et de servir à ses côtés.

Nous rendons hommage à son service et offrons nos pensées les plus sincères à sa famille et à ses proches en cette période difficile.

Both women continue to demonstrate exceptional leadership, service, and commitment to their communities long after their military careers.

🔹 HCol (Ret'd) Lee-Anne Quinn, a retired CAF Nurse Practitioner, founded the Brock Mission Primary Care Clinic in Peterborough, providing free healthcare and medications to vulnerable individuals, including veterans. She has also supported refugee resettlement initiatives and continues to serve her community through volunteer work.

🔹 Sgt (Ret'd) Jessica Miller, a former Medical Technician, is the co-founder and Director of the Veteran Farm Project in Nova Scotia. Through this initiative, she supports transitioning veterans, promotes food security, and advocates nationally on issues affecting veterans and women who have served.

The awards ceremony also brought together several current and former members of the Canadian Forces Health Services community, including Surgeon General MGen Scott Malcolm, the Honourable RAdm (Ret'd) Rebecca Patterson, Senator, and previous award recipients.

The RCMSA extends its sincere congratulations to all recipients and thanks them for their continued contributions to Canadians, veterans, and their communities.

Toutes deux continuent d'incarner un leadership exceptionnel, un esprit de service et un engagement remarquable envers leur communauté bien au-delà de leur carrière militaire.

🔹 La Col hon (ret) Lee-Anne Quinn, ancienne infirmière praticienne des FAC, a fondé la clinique Brock Mission Primary Care à Peterborough, offrant gratuitement des soins de santé et des médicaments à des personnes vulnérables, y compris des vétérans. Elle a également participé à l'accueil de réfugiés et poursuit son engagement au sein de sa communauté.

🔹 La Sgt (ret) Jessica Miller, ancienne technicienne médicale, est cofondatrice et directrice du Veteran Farm Project en Nouvelle-Écosse. Par cette initiative, elle soutient les vétérans en transition, contribue à la sécurité alimentaire et défend à l'échelle nationale les enjeux touchant les vétérans et les femmes ayant servi.

La cérémonie a également réuni plusieurs membres actuels et anciens de la communauté des Services de santé des Forces canadiennes, dont le médecin général, le Mgén Scott Malcolm, l'honorable Cam (ret) Rebecca Patterson, sénatrice, ainsi que plusieurs anciennes récipiendaires du prix.

L'ASSRC adresse ses plus sincères félicitations à toutes les récipiendaires et les remercie pour leur contribution continue envers les Canadiens, les vétérans et leurs collectivités.

On 6 June 2026, members of the RCMSA Atlantic Region Chapter gathered at the Inn on the Lake in Fall River, Nova Scotia, for a regional brunch and an opportunity to reconnect with old friends and colleagues.

Wayne has been a dedicated supporter of Canadian military medical heritage for decades. As President of the former Defence Medical Association, he became the founding father of the present Royal Canadian Medical Service Association (RCMSA) and has remained actively involved since its inception.

Over the past 19 years, Wayne has served the Association in numerous capacities, including President, Past President, Secretariat, and Webmaster. Through his leadership, dedication, and perseverance, he has helped nurture and build the RCMSA into the organization it is today.

Wayne is also the creator of the CanMilMed Virtual Museum, an invaluable resource preserving the history and heritage of Canadian military medicine for future generations.

Reflecting on the early days of the Association, Wayne shared a phrase that became a hallmark of his approach:

"𝑾𝒆 𝒘𝒊𝒍𝒍 𝒎𝒂𝒌𝒆 𝒊𝒕 𝒘𝒐𝒓𝒌 𝒓𝒆𝒈𝒂𝒓𝒅𝒍𝒆𝒔𝒔."

Wayne appuie les services de santé militaire canadien et la préservation de son patrimoine depuis de nombreuses années. Membre de l’ancienne Association médicale militaire, il est devenu l’un des pères fondateurs de l’actuelle Association du Service de santé royal canadien (ASSRC) et demeure activement impliqué depuis sa création.

Au cours des 19 dernières années, Wayne a occupé plusieurs fonctions au sein de l’Association, notamment celles de président, ancien président, membre du secrétariat et webmestre. Par son leadership, son dévouement et sa persévérance, il a contribué à développer et à faire progresser l’ASSRC pour en faire l’organisation qu’elle est aujourd’hui.

Wayne est également le créateur du musée virtuel CanMilMed, une ressource précieuse qui contribue à préserver l’histoire et le patrimoine de la médecine militaire canadienne pour les générations futures.

En évoquant les débuts de l’Association, Wayne a partagé une phrase qui reflète bien son approche :

CWO Belanger was selected in recognition of her service on the RCMSA Board of Directors while continuing to lead in her role as the Canadian Forces Health Services Home Station Chief Warrant Officer. L’Adjuc Belanger a été sélectionnée en reconnaissance de son engagement au sein du conseil d’administration de l’ASSRC, tout en assumant ses responsabilités à titre d’adjudant-chef de la Garnison des Services de santé des Forces canadiennes. Elle a également joué un rôle important dans la préservation de l’histoire et du patrimoine du Service de santé royal canadien grâce à sa contribution au développement du Musée des Services de santé des Forces canadiennes.

The ceremony will include wreath placement, a moment of observance, a blessing, and a photo opportunity. A cash-bar reception at the Mill St. Brew Pub will follow the ceremony.

It’s Nursing Week, and we’re celebrating nurses who take on what’s next.

Capt Stephanie Janes spent 15 years working as a registered nurse in the civilian healthcare system, developing an extensive range of experience in the operating room, pediatric ICU, post anesthesia care, and emergency care. In search of new challenges and training, Capt Janes joined the CAF as a Nursing Officer in 2021.

Today, we celebrate Capt Janes as she prepares to become the first graduate of the CFHS Critical Care Nursing Officer–Certified Clinical Anesthesia Assistant (CCNO–AA) program, marking a key advancement in CFHS’s team-based anesthesia capability. 👏
