🎉AMAZING NEWS FOR ANIMALS IN ONTARIO🎉

We are thrilled to share that Ontario has officially announced that, effective January 1, 2027, declawing in cats and ear cropping in dogs will be prohibited.

This is a huge step forward for animal welfare in our province and a victory for the many advocates, veterinarians, rescues, and animal lovers who have worked tirelessly to educate the public about these painful and unnecessary procedures!

Declawing is not simply removing a cat's claws — it involves amputating part of each toe and can lead to lifelong pain, mobility issues, and behavioural changes. Cats deserve to keep the body parts nature gave them💚

At Biscuits & Purrs Cat Rescue, we celebrate every step that helps create a kinder future for animals. We are hopeful this change will help raise awareness about humane alternatives and encourage pet owners to better understand their companions' natural behaviours💚

Adopter Update ! 🏡✨

Ozzy (formerly Bandit) is thriving in his new home. His adopters shared that he was shy at first and a bit nervous around their dog, but with a safe cat room and a few baby gates, he quickly gained confidence. 😸

He now adores his feline brothers — especially Felix — and spends his days bird‑watching from the catio, climbing the cat trees, sunbathing, and relaxing in the cat room.
After the sudden loss of one of their young cats, Ozzy has brought so much joy and healing back into their home. They describe him as a true blessing. ❤️

Bessie and Brandy were rescued from a colony after spending the very first year of their lives with little to no human contact. Back then, the world felt completely overwhelming and unpredictable.

Learning to trust people has been a slow, careful journey for them both, but they have come so incredibly far! Every single day, they reveal a little more of the sweet, loving spirits they have always carried underneath. 🥰🏔️

Their unique personalities complement each other like perfect puzzle pieces:

👉 If Bessie is the brave explorer, then Brandy is the quiet observer, the thoughtful soul who takes her time deciding that the world is safe before stepping into it. 🗺️🦉

👉 Bessie is the first to investigate something new, the first to venture a little closer, and the first to gently remind Brandy that maybe humans aren't so scary after all! While she might not be the type to leap onto a stranger's lap right away, she has a quiet, beautiful way of winning hearts. 🦁👣

👉 Brandy is the more reserved, independent sister. She is the one who watches first, thinks carefully, and then—when she truly feels safe—takes her own small, brave steps forward. She grows entirely at her own pace, making the moment she chooses to trust you feel like a magical, deeply earned reward. 🧩✨

🐍 Bessie has the most charming signature greeting! When she wants attention, she stretches way up onto her tippy toes and shakes her tail like a tiny rattlesnake because she simply cannot contain her excitement. It is impossible not to smile when she greets you with those soft purrs and a hopeful look!

🛋️ Brandy’s love language is beautifully subtle but incredibly meaningful. She communicates safety through a slow blink from across the room, a soft lean into a comforting chin scratch, or the quiet sound of contented purring while making biscuits during dinner time. 🍽️

These two beautiful sisters rely on each other completely, bringing out the absolute best in one another as they navigate their vibrant new life. They are the ultimate dream team for a patient, loving home that will cherish their journey. 🏡❤️

🎤😹 Cats, Comedy, and a Whole Lot of Laughs! 😹🎤

A gigantic, whisker-twitching THANK YOU to local comedian Dave Elliott and BPCR’s own Marina Hansen for once again proving that laughter really is the best medicine (except maybe treats… cats would definitely vote for treats).

On Sunday, May 24, they organized another hilarious comedy fundraiser for Biscuits and Purrs Cat Rescue at Yuk Yuk’s Ottawa on Richmond Road. This was the second event they’ve put together, and we’re incredibly grateful for all the time, energy, and cat-herding skills that went into making it happen.

A huge thank you as well to the comedians who generously donated their time and talent, and to everyone who came out to laugh, support rescue cats, and possibly snort-laugh into their drinks.

🐾 The results?

* 61 tickets sold
* $840 raised that night
* Approximately $1,300 raised between the two comedy events

That’s a lot of money for rescue cats—and a lot of laughs for humans.

Life is already pretty funny when you share it with cats. After all, who else can fall off a couch, blame you for it, and then demand dinner? But thanks to Dave, Marina, the comedians, and all of our supporters, things got even funnier.

From the bottom of our furry little hearts, thank you for helping us turn laughs into lifesaving care for cats in need.

Can you give Mimi the fresh start she’s looking for? 🌺

This tuxedo beauty’s journey hasn’t always been easy. 😞 Found as a stray in St. Albert, Mimi was doing her absolute best to survive on the streets while devotedly caring for her kittens. She was a wonderful, loving mama every step of the way—but now, it is finally Mimi’s turn to be pampered! 🩷
Mimi recently settled into her foster home and she is absolutely thriving! Her foster mom reports that Mimi settled in immediately and is already happily playing, exploring, and eating.
Her coat is incredibly silky and soft, almost like angora wool! You won't want to stop petting her. Mimi has a completely sweet, easygoing nature.

🏠 So what does her perfect home look like? Mimi loves attention and especially craves chin and butt scratches while curling up on your lap. She is a huge fan of mousse (any flavor!) and goes crazy for Temptations and lickable treats. Because she is so easygoing, she could do well with a very slow, proper introduction to another cat, but she would honestly love to be your one-and-only queen. 👸🏻

A heartfelt thank you to Pet Valu Perth for their incredible and ongoing support of our rescue.

Because of your kindness—and the generosity of your amazing customers—we’ve received much-needed food donations that help us care for the many cats in our program. Your willingness to open your store to host some of our cats has given them a safe space to be seen, loved, and ultimately adopted.

Most recently, you welcomed Biscuits and Purrs for an adoption event, and thanks to that opportunity, all four cats found their forever homes. Moments like these are what rescue is all about, and they simply wouldn’t be possible without partners like you.

We are so grateful for your continued compassion and commitment to helping animals in need. We’re excited to be back in July with more adoptable cats and another adoption event—together, we’ll keep changing lives, one paw at a time. 🐾
