This poem comes from a deep place within me, born out of questions about our place in the world and our impact on one another. It's a journey through light and shadow, seeking love and peace in a divided world. I hope these words resonate with you as they have with me.
--------------------------------------------------------------------
Soft winds whisper, under a fading sky
In the heart of silence, I question why
I am the world, but the world stands still
Am I the force that bends, or the one that kills?
Am I the shadow that darkens the light,
Or the seeker of truth, in the endless night?
My love is vast, or so I believe,
But why do I hurt, why do I deceive?
In what life do we live, where one climbs so high,
As another falls, beneath the same sky?
Where does the world go, when we think of just "me"?
Aren’t we the world? Can't we all see?
Why ignite the flames, why destroy, why fight?
When the soul longs for peace, in the soft morning light
In a garden of hope, where birds sing true,
The world gazes back with a smile anew
Why do we tear down, when we could create,
Why let love falter, why nurture hate?
I seek not the power, nor the crown of gold,
But a heart that is pure, and a soul never sold
Am I the mirror of the world, reflecting its pain,
Or the hand that soothes, in the midst of the rain?
I wished for peace, for love to hold,
But where has it gone, this heart now so cold?
Let peace reign, let the darkness fade,
Man carries black gold, through the world we've made
But am I just a mirror, a reflection of the strife,
Or the light that could guide, through the shadows of life?
Am I the mirror of the world, in its endless plight,
I sought only goodness, for day and night
Am I the mirror of the world, a beacon so dim,
I wanted just love, for you and for him
Soft winds whisper, under the fading sky,
In the heart of silence, I find the why
For in every reflection, there lies the choice,
To bring forth the love, to raise up our voice
