St. George’s Day Ride — 100 km of Two‑Stroke Joy

This weekend’s St. George Ride was everything we love about riding with vintage:
the unmistakable two‑stroke perfume, the laughter, the countryside, and yes — the riders who mix strawberry‑scented oil into their gas. Ottawa may have bakeries, but Bowmanville smelled like a candy shop on wheels.

Luna was the perfect scooter companion as we clocked over 100 km, dodged potholes (which, honestly, were nothing compared to Ottawa or Montreal), and soaked in the early‑season energy.

Next week we ride Toronto with the Piper Doves — and by then we’ll have a full, scientific assessment of Canada’s Worst Potholes.

This year, Vespazitas has one goal:
Ride. Ride. Ride.

Last night, Ottawa gathered around flour, water, and purpose — and together we made 22 sourdough loaves.

Vespazitas honours St. Zita, the patron saint of bakers and quiet acts of service. Her legacy lives in every workshop, every shared bowl, every loaf that travels across the city on our scooters to someone who needs a lift.

Thank you to everyone who showed up with heart, hands, and heritage.
Ottawa is kinder because of you.

Vintage Scooter Sponsorship Program

Vespazitas & Friends supports the presence of vintage Italian scooters at Ottawa’s cultural events by offering limited sponsorships for riders who help preserve and share this heritage. Selected applicants may receive assistance with participation fees and accommodations so historically significant scooters remain visible in our community.

To apply, riders must submit a clear photo of their vintage scooter and a short note about its history or cultural significance. These stories help us document and celebrate Italian 2‑wheel heritage during Ottawa’s bicentennial year.

Sponsorships are awarded based on available funding and alignment with our cultural mandate.
