Canadian Association of Medical Radiation Technologists

Canadian Association of Medical Radiation Technologists Association of health professionals in the field of medical radiation technology

Founded in 1942 by a coalition of provincial associations, the Canadian Association of Medical Radiation Technologists (CAMRT) is Canada’s national professional association and certifying body for medical radiation technologists and therapists across the country. There are four disciplines represented among CAMRT’s membership: radiological technology, magnetic resonance, nuclear medicine and radia

tion therapy. As the national professional association, the CAMRT is the national body in a partnership with ten provincial associations who share a common membership of approximately 12,000. CAMRT is the national organization for the medical radiation technology profession and has the ability to bring to the table all relevant stakeholders. As the national certifying body, CAMRT develops and administers national certification exams for the four disciplines among its membership. The exams test against a pre-determined standard that is reflective of the competency required to practice safely and effectively at the entry-to-practice level in the current Canadian healthcare environment. CAMRT is governed by a Board of Directors and supported by numerous committees of member volunteers. The CAMRT Foundation exists to support its members and the advancement of the profession. While it is a separate entity from the Canadian Association of Medical Radiation Technologists (CAMRT), the Foundation complements and enhances the educational activities of the professional association and its members.

📢 Advocate for the Future of Medical Radiation Technology!

CAMRT is calling on MRTs across Canada to take action and help strengthen our profession.

We are advocating for the inclusion of MRTs in the Canada Student Loan Forgiveness Program. This change could help improve recruitment and retention in rural and remote communities, attract new graduates to underserved areas, reduce patient travel and wait times, and support a stronger healthcare workforce nationwide.

✉️ Sending a letter to your Member of Parliament is quick, easy, and impactful.

Together, we can amplify the voice of the MRT profession and advocate for meaningful change.

77% of sexually and gender diverse youth had been the target of bullying in the previous year, a higher proportion than that of cisgender youth who are attracted exclusively to a different gender (69%).

Not only are sexually and gender diverse youth more likely to be bullied, but their mental health is also often worse than cisgender youth attracted exclusively to a different gender.
