Fall 2022
WE HAVE GOOD NEWS TO REPORT!
As described in previous MSMF newsletters, our projects in Kakinada (India) and in Canada were severely curtailed by COVID but we are now back on track. Thanks to your generous contributions, we have been providing financial support on your behalf to Sankurathri Foundation in Kakinada and Teach For Canada. We are hoping to receive your continued support and plan to provide you with a complete description of our projects next spring in our “A Ray of Light” newsletter. You can choose to support either our Kakinada or Teach For Canada projects by indicating your preference on the enclosed donation form.
KAKINADA PROJECT UPDATE:
In terms of the SRIKIRAN INSTITUTE OF OPHTHALMOLOGY and the SARADA VIDYALAYAM SCHOOL, MSMF continues to work closely with Chandra Sankurathri and has recently wired funds to support both programs. Chandra reports that… “During the last 30 years, we have reached out to more than 3.6 million outpatients and performed over 324,000 surgeries. Thanks to our supporters, we were able to provide 65% of the outpatient services and 90% of the surgeries completely free of charge to the patients. In terms of the school program, we currently have 235 children from UKG to grade 10. We would like to let MSMF donors know that so far, the great majority of the children who have graduated since the beginning of the school program have successfully continued their education beyond high school and are being employed in many responsible positions."
TEACH FOR CANADA PROGRAM:
As reported in previous newsletters, MSMF donors now have a choice of supporting overseas projects or Canadian projects. During the last few years, we have provided financial support on your behalf to Teach For Canada, a charitable organization whose mission is to recruit and develop committed educators in partnership with First Nations.
MANJARI SANKURATHRI MEMORIAL FOUNDATION TRUST (MSMF TRUST):
We informed you in our last newsletter that the volunteer MSMF Board of Directors signed an agreement in 2021 with the Ottawa Community Foundation (OCF) to create this Trust. The MSMF TRUST will be managed in perpetuity by OCF. Basically, the annual interest earned from investments will be provided every year to MSMF to support our projects. If you wish to review details concerning this agreement, please contact us by e-mail at [email protected]. We will also be pleased to provide you with a copy of our latest audited financial statement which lists our contributions to the Trust and summarizes all of our revenue and expenses.
THE CHOICE IS YOURS...
On behalf of the less fortunate who greatly benefit from your support, we thank you for considering a charitable donation to MSMF through the enclosed donation form. As noted earlier, you can choose to support one of the Kakinada programs or the Teach For Canada program.
THANK YOU FOR YOUR VALUABLE SUPPORT!
