Federation of Canadian Municipalities The Federation of Canadian Municipalities (FCM) has been the national voice of municipal government since 1901.

With more than 2,000 members, FCM represents the interests of municipalities on policy and program matters that fall within federal jurisdiction. With funding support from the Government of Canada, the City of Windsor received $776,000 through the GMF’s Local Leadership for Climate Adaptation (LLCA) initiative for drainage and site resiliency improvements at the Reimagined Adie Knox Herman Recreation Complex.

These improvements will help protect critical infrastructure and create welcoming spaces for residents. As extreme weather becomes more frequent and costly for Canadian communities, projects like these in Windsor show what real climate resilience can look like. We're proud to see the results of strong collaboration between governments and local partners.

Today, the Government of Canada and the Federation of Canadian Municipalities announced a $34.2 million investment to fund 141 community resilience projects across the country. These investments are helping protect Canadians from extreme weather, and helping municipalities reduce costs in the longer-term. For every dollar invested in resilience, communities avoid $13-$15 in future costs of recovery after disasters.

Delivered through the Green Municipal Fund’s Local Leadership for Climate Adaptation (LLCA) initiative, this investment supports practical, community-driven solutions that build safer, stronger, and more resilient communities from coast to coast to coast.
