The Silverlines Philanthropy Corporation is dedicated to improving quality of life and happiness of the community. Silverlines accomplishes this goal by serving three main groups:
• People with mood disorders. Starting February 2014, Silverlines will run an initiative called Sonrisa, which will organize, promote, and provide support for mental health groups in Ottawa-Gatineau. Additionally, throu
gh the Sonrisa program, Silverlines will facilitate free events in public spaces with the simple goal of brightening someone’s day.
• Seniors in need of companionship. Through a program named Horiza, Silverlines coordinates volunteers at various hospitals and retirement centres around the city, helping ensure that no one feels lonely. Silverlines also donates to other charities in Ottawa-Gatineau that make a positive difference with our elderly residents. Horiza will launch in June 2013.
• Children suffering from a serious illness. Silverlines supports Child’s Play, a global charity that provides toys, books, movies, and videogames to those poor kids in children’s hospitals. Donations made through Silverlines go directly toward cheering up patients at the Children’s Hospital of Eastern Ontario. Beginning in the fall of 2013, Silverlines will also coordinate social events for non-hospitalized sick children, both at home and in palliative care facilities like Rogers House. While all of Silverlines’s initiatives are active year-round, one third of each year is heavily invested in each, to ensure that each distinct issue receives adequate and distinct recognition and assistance. Sonrisa runs February through May, Horiza is heavily active June through September, and Child’s Play receives focus October through January. Our charitable tax ID is #85013 7449 RR0001.
