Local Stittsville businesses came together in 2017 to launch the Stittsville Business Association (SBA)! In all great small-towns, businesses support their communities and communities support their businesses. Stittsville residents are passionate about maintaining the rich cultural heritage of our village and a lot of that has to do with the fantastic businesses that exist here. The Stittsville Bu

siness Association (SBA) aims to help businesses thrive. It is a membership based association where any business that operates within the electoral boundaries of Stittsville may join. It will be a diverse group made up of small businesses, large businesses, self-owned businesses and home-operated businesses. For its first year, the SBA plans to focus on speaking with business owners and educating them on the SBA’s goals and how it will benefit local businesses. Some of these benefits include:

1) Enhanced visibility for businesses - this will initially be done through social media pages owned by the SBA and a website that will be developed acting as a directory for members. Both of these will be platforms to amplify reach and continually showcase the wonderful member businesses.

2) Business-to-business networking (B2B) – the SBA plans to hold five networking events this year to encourage businesses to discover what's in our own backyard. There are countless examples of businesses using services outside of Stittsville simply because they did not know the same service existed in Stittsville or hadn't created the relationship. Business owners can get to know one another and support each other by shopping local.

3) Listen and Learn - Listening to members and what they would like to see the association do in the years to come from which the SBA will start to build action plans with timelines for some of these bigger scope projects. Before Canada Day, show your pride in Canada by purchasing a lawn sign, "Proudly Canadian" or "Canada - Strong and Free" from the Rotary Club of Ottawa-Stittsville. Signs cost $15 each and the profits from this sale will support Rotary projects in our community and around the world.

To order a sign, please contact Charles Mossman at [email protected]. Payment for the signs may be by e-transfer to [email protected] or in cash at the time of pick-up. Charles will make arrangements with you on how to receive your sign.

Thanks to all who are supporting this fundraiser, being hosted by SBA member the Rotary Club of Ottawa-Stittsville.

When we launched our new website in March, we added a members-only area. So far, this area gives you access to our Group Benefits insurance coverage. Going forward, we plan to add to it.
