Hockey Eastern Ontario - HEO Hockey Eastern Ontario - HEO 1. HEO is the governing body of Amateur Hockey within its defined boundaries.

It shall be composed of amateur hockey teams, of amateur hockey leagues, and of amateur hockey associations which are within the geographical jurisdication of the association and which are willing to comply with the By-Laws, with the Regulations and with the rules of the ODHA.

All Team Officials, Third-Party Instructors, and On-Ice Officials over the age of 18 are required to have a valid Vulnerable Sector Check.

Getting your Vulnerable Sector Check is easy!
1. Get your police check
2. Get your Hockey Canada #
3. Fill in the form!

➡️ Provided a VSC in 2024 or 2025? Then you still need to complete a Declaration Form

Sanctioned vs. Non-Sanctioned Hockey ➡️ Why Play Sanctioned Hockey?

Part 4/5

Non-sanctioned hockey is any hockey programming (ice times, practices, games, tournaments, etc.) that occurs outside of the membership oversight of Hockey Eastern Ontario and Hockey Canada.

Hockey Canada and Hockey Eastern Ontario are recognized by the Federal and Provincial Governments as a National Sport Organization and a Provincial Sport Organization respectively.

All non-sanctioned organizations fall outside of any regulatory government oversight and would not provide any avenue of recourse for any egregious incidents that may occur, except through the legal system. There is no level of accountability for non-sanctioned
organizations to answer to, which could potentially leave your child at risk.
