đŸłâ€đŸŒˆđŸłïžâ€âš§ïžOn National Coming Out Day, OVS recognizes and celebrate the identities, courage, authenticity, and diversity of 2SLGBTQIA+ individuals and communities.

Coming out can be an amazing experience, but it can also involve vulnerability and concerns about acceptance or safety. Everyone deserves the freedom to express their identity on their own terms, in their own time, however they choose, and without fear of discrimination, prejudice, violence, or rejection.

At OVS, we stand alongside 2SLGBTQIA+ communities and recognize the importance of providing inclusive, affirming, compassionate, and trauma-informed support to individuals who have experienced violence, discrimination, prejudice, or victimization.

We also acknowledge that coming out is a personal choice and not an obligation. Whether someone is openly celebrating their identity, exploring who they are, or choosing not to disclose their identity, everyone deserves dignity, respect, kindness and safety. Happy National Coming Out Day!!

10/04/2026

Today, OVS recognizes the National Day of Action for Missing and Murdered Indigenous Women, Girls and Two-Spirit People where we amplify the ongoing and disproportionate violence experienced by Indigenous women, girls and Two-Spirit people, and of the need to listen to survivors, families and communities while continuing to advocate for safety and justice.

OVS remains committed to providing compassionate and trauma-informed support to people impacted by violence. Our services are available to help Indigenous survivors and families navigate difficult circumstances, access resources, and receive culturally humble support without judgment.

We also encourage our community to continue learning about MMIWG2S, to recognize the impacts of gender-based and colonial violence, recognize and label this as a genocide of Indigenous women, girls, and 2-spirit people, and to promote Indigenous voices and community-led initiatives.

10/02/2026

Today, on the International Day of Non-Violence, OVS recognizes the importance of creating safer communities and supporting people affected by violence in all its forms. OVS stands against all forms of violence.

Gender-based violence remains a priority within our Walk-In Counselling services where survivors can access confidential and trauma-informed support to talk through what they are experiencing, explore options, receive referrals, and connect with additional resources.

Recognizing the warning signs of violence can also be an important step toward safety. Red flags may include controlling behaviour, isolation from friends or family, excessive jealousy, monitoring of phones or whereabouts, threats, intimidation, financial control, sexual coercion, or behaviour that causes someone to feel afraid of their partner.

If you are concerned about violence in your own relationship or someone else’s, resources and information are available at www.stopviolence.ca.
