🕊️ Today, August 27, Abdulmedzhit Seitumerov turns 27. He’s spending his birthday not at home, but in pre-trial detention center SIZO No. 1 in Rostov-on-Don, Russia. August 24 marked the anniversary of his detention.
Abdulmedzhit Seitumerov is a Crimean Tatar activist and father of many children. Two of his brothers, Osman and Seitumer, are also imprisoned.
He is charged under Article 205.5(2) of the Russian Criminal Code: participation in an organization deemed «terrorist» by Russia. Abdulmedzhit maintains his innocence. While in custody, he was forced to undergo a psychiatric examination. He still cannot obtain a copy of the Quran in Arabic, only in Russian.
His health has seriously deteriorated following a surgery: severe knee pain, a rash, fainting spells, and serious dental problems. Four teeth have already been removed, with more extractions planned. He is not receiving proper medical care.
On July 15, a Russian court once again extended detention for him and other defendants in the «fifth Bakhchisarai group» case, until October 14.
We will not stay silent, and we will not forget him.
