Why and Aboriginal Strategy? Since 1995, the Ontario Aboriginal HIV/AIDS Strategy has consistently evolved to respond to the changing epidemic within the Aboriginal population of Ontario. While we may share common issues and gators related to the disease with the mainstream, Aboriginal differences in History, worldview, methods, approach, culture and traditions, etc... must be respected. Oahas is

an important partner and resource to AIDS service and other agencies currently or wishing to serve Aboriginal, Two-Spirit and Aboriginal People living with HIV/AIDS(APHA) clients. GIPA and MEPA

The Greater Involvement of People Living with HIV/AIDS (GIPA) was formally recognized at the 1994 Paris AIDS Summit. Oahu's has moved beyond a seat with no voice. We operate so as to ensure voice and active engagement on our board, hired staff, and throughout the steps involved within the program development, implementation & evaluation. This is the Meaningful Engagement of APHAS (MEPA)

The Teaching of Non-Interference

Oaha's' programs and services are client-centered and asset-based. We accept people where they are at and honour the skills, lived experience and rights of individuals to choose their path. We offer tolls and preventive education to reduce the risk of to self and others, but we acknowledge that every individual has gifts and the right to human dignity.
