🌍 GlobalSkin at ISAD 2026: Building Bridges, Amplifying Voices!

Thank you to everyone who connected with GlobalSkin in Beijing at the 16th RAJKA International Symposium on Atopic Dermatitis (ISAD)! We had a strong GlobalSkin presence with a delegation of 16 Members.

🔬We had an opportunity to share PRIDD research findings at a poster presentation, “Evaluating Patient-reported Impact of Dermatological Diseases (PRIDD) Measure Among Patients with Atopic Dermatitis/Eczema”, presented by GlobalSkin CEO, Jennifer Austin.

💡 Our GlobalSkin Member Meeting harnessed the power of collaboration to drive progress and improve care for people living with atopic eczema.

🤝 Our Skin Matters Reception, co-hosted with the Atopic Dermatitis Atlas (GADA), sparked meaningful dialogue, strengthening patient partnerships and amplifying the voices of people living with atopic eczema worldwide.

The session “How to Generate Evidence (Foundations)” will allow you to explore how to develop focused research questions, choose suitable methods and use practical tools to capture your skin patient community’s experiences. This World Mental Health Day, let’s do more than listen. Let’s make space for people with lived experience of mental health conditions to help shape the policies, services and decisions that affect their lives.

💬 Lived experience is expertise.
🤝 Meaningful engagement means being involved in decisions—not simply being asked to tell your story.
🌱 Mental health care should be person-centred, rights-based and responsive to people’s real needs.
🏘️ People deserve the dignity, choice and support to live and participate in their communities.

Let’s move from listening to action and build mental health systems with people with lived experience, not merely for them.

We’re proud to see GlobalSkin Member Noel Mudibo from the International Pemphigus & Pemphigoid Foundation (IPPF) Kenya featured in The Independent, where he shared his lived experience in an article published as part of the recent launch of the ILDS Skin Observatory study.

In the interview, Noel discussed his journey living with pemphigus vulgaris in Kenya and the challenges he encountered before receiving appropriate diagnosis and treatment — from stigma and misconceptions to high treatment costs and limited access to specialized care.

His story is a powerful reminder that skin diseases are far more than cosmetic concerns and that the patient voice is essential to understanding the real-world impact of gaps in dermatological care.
