What do the candidates running in your area have planned for Ottawa’s future?

Ahead of the October 26 municipal election, join the Ottawa Board of Trade for our More Ottawa Municipal Election Regional Roundtables, a series of virtual conversations bringing the election closer to home.

Hear directly from candidates running in your ward about the issues shaping your community, from housing, transportation, and infrastructure to economic development, investment, and quality of life.

Moderated by Rick Chase, Vice President and Partner at Gifford Carr, the roundtables will be grounded in the priorities of our non-partisan More Ottawa campaign and its three pillars:

🔹Build for growth: Build the housing, transportation, and infrastructure Ottawa needs to keep pace with growth. Make it easier to get things built.
🔹Compete to win: Create the conditions for businesses, talent, and investment to choose Ottawa. Position our city and region to win the opportunities ahead.
🔹Elevate the capital: A vibrant downtown strengthens all of Ottawa. Create a safer, more welcoming core and a capital experience that reflects Ottawa's ambition and Canada's place in the world.

Now is the time to get informed about the choices on your ballot and hear where candidates in your area stand on Ottawa’s future.

Ottawa’s next chapter starts with the choices we make today.

Tonight, Ottawa’s business, economic, and community leaders came together for Ottawa’s Next Chapter: An Economic Leaders Panel, an important conversation about what our city needs to compete, grow, and prosper in the years ahead.

Moderated by David Coletto, Founder and CEO of Abacus Data, the conversation featured Megan Cornell, Michael Crockatt, and Kelly Rhodenizer, who shared their perspectives on the opportunities and challenges shaping Ottawa’s future, from housing, infrastructure, and talent to investment, competitiveness, downtown revitalization, and economic growth.

We were also pleased to welcome candidates for Mayor and City Council, creating an opportunity for those seeking public office to hear directly from Ottawa’s business community and connect with the people building, investing, and creating jobs across our city.

As Election Day approaches, now is the time to think bigger about what Ottawa can be and turn ambition into action.

More Ambition. More Action. More Ottawa.

Strong economies are built through collaboration, shared insight, and a clear vision for what comes next.

Today, the Ottawa Board of Trade hosted a CEO Townhall with our Pillar Partners and Lead Level members, bringing together business leaders for a focused conversation about Ottawa’s economic future and the opportunities ahead.

From competitiveness, investment, and major city building priorities to defence, innovation, regional collaboration, and the 2026 municipal election, the discussion centred on how we can work together to strengthen Ottawa’s position as a leading place to live, work, invest, and build.

Just as importantly, we heard directly from our members about the opportunities, challenges, and priorities they are seeing across Ottawa’s business community.

Convening leaders and creating space for these conversations is an important part of the Ottawa Board of Trade’s role. By bringing business voices together, sharing intelligence, and building alignment around our region’s biggest opportunities, we can turn ambition into action and help shape a more competitive, prosperous Ottawa.

Thank you to our Pillar Partners and Lead Level members for your leadership, insights, and continued commitment to our business community and our city.

Ottawa’s economic future was front and centre at the Ottawa Board of Trade Mayoral Debate last Thursday evening.

The debate brought the top-polling mayoral candidates together for a focused conversation about the decisions that will shape Ottawa’s competitiveness, growth, and quality of life in the years ahead.

From fiscal responsibility and the future of City Hall to housing, transit, infrastructure, public safety, downtown revitalization, and support for local businesses, candidates shared their perspectives on some of the biggest challenges and opportunities facing our city.

The discussion also reinforced a central theme of our More Ottawa campaign: Ottawa has tremendous potential, but realizing it will require greater ambition, stronger collaboration, and action on the fundamentals that allow people, businesses, and communities to thrive.

Our Mayoral Debate recap takes a closer look at the key themes and takeaways from the debate, and what they could mean for Ottawa’s economic future. Read it here: https://www.ottawabot.ca/article/ottawa-board-of-trade-mayoral-debate-puts-ottawas-economic-future-in-focus/

And the conversation continues tomorrow! Join us for Ottawa’s Next Chapter: An Economic Leaders Panel, where leaders from Ottawa’s business and economic community will explore what our city needs to compete, attract investment and talent, build the infrastructure required for growth, strengthen our downtown, and seize the opportunities ahead.

Candidates for Mayor and City Council will also be in attendance, giving you an opportunity to connect directly with those seeking to represent you at City Hall.

This is your last chance to join us. Registration closes today at 5:00 p.m.
