The ICO welcomes international men & women to Canadian members, culture, and way of life. Our programs are held during the day with some evening events.

Through the club year we offer programs including: Bridge, Cooking, Arts and Heritage, Mah Jong, Book Club, ICO Talks, Walk ‘n Talk and a monthly Happy Hour. The club is managed by Canadian members who comprise the Leadership Team and program chairs with input and assistance from international members. There is no charge for International members. Canadians pay a small fee.

A great walk n’ talk on Wednesday. The rain held off for a beautiful day. Great to see more NCC access points to the river. Plus lunch at the Bobino Bagel Shop. I’ll be back!

A lovely tour of Manotick’s Watson’s Mill and Dickinson House followed by a visit to the Carriage Shed used bookstore and lunch at the Miller’s Oven. Thanks to a joint effort by Walk ‘n Talk and Book Club.

Eid Mubarak all who are celebrating!

One of our favourite ICO traditions is collaborating with our members to learn about their culture. This Ramadan the ICO was graciously hosted by our member Abeer Al Jassim and Ambassador Fahad Saeed Mohamed Abdulla AL Raqbani of the United Arab Emirates embassy for a traditional Iftar (breaking of the fast).

Abeer gave us an informative presentation on the practice of Ramadan and together we shared a delicious feast of many traditional foods from the UAE. Shukran Abeer 🙏for a truly special evening ❤️.

ICO Events & activities are coordinated by our dedicated volunteers ~ thank you to our Arts & Heritage team 🫶 for this wonderful program.

One of the many benefits of being an ICO member are special experiences like a private tour
of the Canada Council Art Bank!

17,000 artworks by over 3000 Canadian artists are stored for rental to Canadian organizations - home and abroad.

Our members enjoyed the 'behind the scenes' look at how the paintings, drawings, sculptures (indoor & outdoor pieces), and photographs are stored, framed, and photographed for the collection.

Thank you to the Book Club tour of the Ottawa Public Library Main Branch. There is so much more than books! Musical instruments, Cds, records, - (anyone got a player?) museum passes, e and audio books, books in many languages for our International members and a kit for book clubs. All you need to join is ID; it's free! There are 33 branches in the area, so check out the one near you. We wrapped up the event with a great lunch and chat at Zack's Diner.

Thank you to the Arts & Heritage committee for the wonderful tour of the Ottawa Art Gallery. Located downtown at 10 Daly Ave, it focuses on Canadian local artists. Our guide Maria Gomez, captured our interest as she shared the beauty of the various exhibitions by Robert Flood, displaying all season scenes in the local area, some from the Group of Seven and Indigenous art pieces. The special exhibition, "The Shapes In Between" by local based artist Norman Takeuchi, reflected his personal engagement with the impact of the Japanese Canadian internment during the first world war. A thought provoking and enriching experience.

Many thanks to the generous hospitality of the New Zealand High Commissioner's wife and the ICO Talks committee, we learned all about the country’s newest public holiday. Matariki is celebrated on the 14th of July in New Zealand. It is a special occasion which marks the start of the Māori New Year, signified by the Matariki cluster of stars reappearing in their night sky. Matariki is a time for people , wahnau, (family) and communities to gather together to remember the year that has passed, and to celebrate the present and plan for the next year. A special Māori blessing honoured our meal.

The ICO new year kicked off with the annual Meet and Greet. The historic Billings Estate was the perfect outdoor location in the summer temperatures. Old and new friendships were kindled while Canadian hosts welcomed international newcomers. Program committees were all set to sign up enthusiastic members to their wide range of activities and events: Walk & Talk, Arts & Heritage, Book Club, ICO Talks, Cooking, Mahjong, Bridge and monthly Happy Hour. It's a new year for the ICO. Our keen Canadian committees have an exciting line up of programs that will take us to the regions best kept secrets, tantalize your taste buds, treat us to treasured art and architecture, learn about international cultures, dive into a good book and get together at the pub!
