Wind Concerns Ontario supports responsible, environmentally sound solutions to our energy demands and environmental challenges. The Green Energy Act, however, did not fulfill promises: the reality of this legislation and government policy was to locate expensive industrial wind power plants with no cost-benefit analysis and little environmental oversight. The noise complaints and health effects be

ing reported in Ontario today echo those of people in other countries around the world. Wind power generation projects are an industrial use of the land; the planning and siting process should be the same as for any other sort of industrial infrastructure, with full cost-benefit analysis and risk assessment (including effects on the local population,) and thorough environmental assessment. Wind Concerns Ontario is committed to informing the people of Ontario as to the many concerns surrounding industrial wind power.

Recently, we shared our final report on ecological corridor connectivity mapping in the Frontenac Arch Biosphere Region, but what even is an ecological corridor?

Ecological corridors - sometimes referred to as wildlife corridors, animal movement pathways or ecological linkages and connections - are managed and natural areas that connect fragmented habitats. They allow for safe migration and movement of species between different habitats, supporting individuals within populations as well as the transfer of genes between populations of species – ensuring long-term population health. Ecological corridors are made up of various landscape features, including continuous strips of forested area, vegetated areas along rivers and streams, treelines between agricultural lands, green bridges and overpasses.

Ecological corridors are not necessarily protected or conserved areas, such as national or provincial parks. Instead they are often locally-driven and managed, based on support and voluntary participation from landowners and land managers and are compatible with other land uses such as agriculture, forestry, hunting, fishing, etc.

CANADIAN FARMS ARE WORTH PROTECTING! 🚜🇨🇦

Our prime agricultural land is a precious national treasure, yet we are losing thousands of acres of fertile soil every year to rapid urban development and concrete overgrowth. Paving over our fields while simultaneously increasing our dependence on foreign food imports makes absolutely no economic or strategic sense.

A country that cannot feed itself is entirely at the mercy of global supply chain disruptions, international trade barriers, and volatile price inflation. Our hardworking farmers, ranchers, and fishermen produce some of the safest, highest-quality food in the entire world, and protecting their land is the only way to guarantee Canada's long-term food security and independence.

We must implement strong policies to preserve our agricultural soils from being converted into solar fields or car parks. When we protect Canadian farms, we invest in our own economy, support local communities, and secure a safe food supply for generations to come. Save our land. Back our producers. Keep Canada strong! 🌾🥩

Hit SHARE if you completely agree that Canadian farms are worth protecting! 🍁
