The Ottawa Construction Association is one of the largest regional construction associations in Canada. Combined, our membership of over 1,100 firms builds more than 90 per cent of the Ottawa region's $3-billion commercial, industrial and institutional market. We are an effective voice for our members before all levels of government, promoting suitable and desirable legislation affecting the const
ruction industry. We work to maintain and promote industry best practices that, if followed, promote business decisions and relationships that respect the principles of fairness, ethics and teamwork and service to minimize costly misunderstandings, disputes and delays in the construction industry. Consider the following benefits and services provided to OCA members:
1. Construction Project Information: Each year, more than 2,300 construction projects with a combined value of more than $2 billion passes through the OCA’s electronic Plans Room. Members can access all bid documents, including specifications, drawings, addenda, likely bidders, and bid results, through our electronic Plans Room. This service is free to all OCA members.
2. Education & Training: If you need health and safety training, the OCA might just have the course for you! From WHMIS to fall protection to the basics of supervision, and more, the OCA offers regular health and safety training programs to members and non-members alike.
3. Marketing Opportunities to Buyers of Your Services: Your membership provides you with a listing in both the printed and web-based OCA Who’s Who Buyers Guide. The Who’s Who Buyers Guide is distributed to all buyers, architects, engineers in eastern Ontario and to the OCA’s complete membership base – a significant marketing benefit. Both members and non-members have access to view the directory.
4. Documents and Communication: Members receive a rebate of approximately 30 per cent on the standard Canadian construction contracts, forms and guides published by the Canadian Construction Documents Committee (CCDC) and by the Canadian Construction Association (CCA). The OCA also maintains an online library of important industry resources.
5. Discount Programs: Several discount programs are available to members from major retailers and service providers.
6. National Association Representation: Membership in OCA automatically includes membership in the Canadian Construction Association (CCA) the construction advocacy group operating at the national level.
7. Social and Networking Opportunities: OCA hosts an array of social and networking opportunities throughout the year, including our hugely successful golf tournaments, our Annual General Meeting and a number of important information seminars.
