Gypsy update!

A big thank you to everyone that has donated towards her care. We are astonished with how quickly she is recovering and she truly is a miracle dog. We were hoping to switch her back to her regular food but it is looking like she will need to stay on gastrointestinal food long term.

Does anyone have any Royal Canin Gastrointestinal or similar veterinary brand that they no longer need? We are open to wet or dry food. Any food donations can be dropped off at The Canine Clubhouse during their opening hours (6:30am-12 or between 2-6pm). Any donations are greatly appreciated. 🐶❤️

Our brave girl Gypsy gave us the scare of a lifetime. After getting into trouble, she ended up at emerg needing emergency surgery for a blockage, with only a 30% chance of survival. Against all the odds, she fought hard and pulled through. 💪✨
She’s now back home, resting and recovering, and we are beyond grateful to still have her with us. A huge thank you to Animal Emergency & Specialty Hospital for the incredible care, skill, and compassion they showed Gypsy when she needed it most. 🐾❤️

The total cost of Gypsy’s emergency care came to $13,694.12. If anyone is able and would like to help us with these unexpected medical expenses, donations can be sent to [email protected]. Any support, shares, or kind words mean more than we can say. Thank you from the bottom of our hearts. 🤍

A big thank you to Karen and the Orleans Euchre Group! We are beyond grateful and honoured to have been chosen as the recipients of your generous $1,500 donation, raised through your 50/50 draw. Your kindness and community spirit mean the world to us. These funds will go directly toward paying off Buddy’s vet bill. We truly wouldn’t be able to do it without your support.

From the bottom of our hearts — thank you for making such a difference. ❤️🐾

URGENT: FOSTER NEEDED!

Are you someone with experience caring for dogs with medical issues, perhaps someone in the vet industry (vet techs, veterinarians, etc), without any other dogs in the home that might be interested in fostering? We have the sweetest little dwarf shepherd fighting an illness that would benefit from a home where he is separate from other dogs while his medical situation gets under control. Being a dwarf he comes with some medical complexities on top of a current respiratory infection. He is small and cute as a button but needs some extra care!

If you’re interested PLEASE reach out by email to [email protected] or through our website: https://homesforpawsdogrescue.com/contact-us/

We did it! A big thank you to the German Shepherd Dog Club of Canada Inc for adding Pituitary Dwarfism under top genetic disorders in German Shepherds! Hoping this small step will help educate breeders on the importance of genetic testing prior to breeding.

Buddy has arrived! A big thank you to Karla with K & K Bully's Pet Transport, Robert and Mark for helping us get him here. Thank you also to Ashley Stepp and especially Charlotte for taking such good care of Buddy while he awaits transport. It truly takes a VILLAGE. Buddy is scheduled to be neutered and get x rays done next week but for now he is decompressing from his travels. We are still collecting donations to cover his transport and the many vet visits he will require. Donations can be made through our website or by e-transfer to [email protected]. If you would like to follow Buddys journey, give him a follow at .

Please give a warm welcome to Buddy. Buddy came to us as an owner surrender after being diagnosed with Pituitary Dwarfism. In addition to this, he does appear to have some vision impairment which will be explored in the next few days. Buddy will be joining our other dwarfs in our palliative care program as he will need extensive vetting throughout his life. He is currently settled into a foster home and awaiting transport to Canada. If anyone is able to donate towards Buddy’s journey, we would really appreciate it. He will need to be neutered along with updated bloodwork, exam and transport fees.
Donations can be sent via e-transfer to [email protected] or via PayPal.

Thank you again to our village for helping us make this possible.🐾
