It's the start of , and we wanted to share more about what it's like learning natural family planning with Serena Ontario.

Whether you learn in-person or online, you'll be matched with a trained teacher-couple. After the 2.5 to 3-hour session, you'll have a follow-up once you've completed your first chart. Your teachers are available for more follow-ups after that as needed, and can answer questions over email. They'll be there for as long as you need support in learning NFP!

When you learn how to identify the fertile window of your cycle, you can use that information to avoid pregnancy or achieve pregnancy. Best of all, you'll become the expert on your own fertility. Knowing what stage of your cycle you're in (even with irregular cycles) is so empowering.

During the teaching session, you'll learn important information about the menstrual cycle, including the regular pattern of hormonal changes and how to track fertility day by day using three signs of fertility. Then, you'll get to test your knowledge by trying out a practice chart, and the teachers will answer any questions you have.

The Serena charity was founded in Quebec in 1955, and couples have been sharing cycle & fertility information with other couples, one-on-one, ever since then. We're thankful for our passionate volunteer teachers who continue this work today!

We are so excited to endorse this non-profit privacy focused charting tool.

A huge thank you to the Body Literacy Collective, It has been amazing to work with them to create a custom setting for Serena charters in their app. The care they express for charters and NFP teachers is visible everywhere in this app from the fact that you can track an unlimited number of fertility signs to their dedication to ensure your data is private.

Dr. Leiva is conducting a fertility tracking study in the Ottawa area. He is looking at how the different fertility indicators—including cervical mucus observations, urinary LH and PdG testing, and basal body temperature help identify ovulation and the characteristics of the luteal phase. If you are in the Ottawa area or know anyone in Ottawa who may be able to participate please let them know!
