Canadian Americana singer-songwriter Raina Krangle will release her new EP, *HEADBANGERS: A Musical Recovery After Concussion*, on October 9, 2026.

The four-song Americana/folk-rock project was inspired by Krangle’s recovery from a concussion and is accompanied by an artistic journal documenting the first months of that journey through dated entries, photographs, and QR-linked voice notes, videos and music.

Together, the music and journal explore resilience, memory, creativity, connection and hope — and the role music can play in finding a way forward after an unexpected life change.

Raina & The Wranglers will celebrate the release live on November 14 at The George Event Space in Newmarket, Ontario.

Aotearoa-born, Toronto-based singer-songwriter Niki Kennedy releases her debut album 'The Space In Between.' Written and co-produced by Niki, the 12-song collection explores themes of identity and belonging. A journey of reconnection through culture, nature, and story, it integrates Polynesian elements into contemporary folk-roots music.

Available on vinyl and CD, the record features the new single ‘Meant To Be’, a song about finding hope in the uncertainty. “I wrote it from a place of feeling a little lost and struggling with the idea of ‘home’, especially living so far away from my own. It’s about the little reminders the universe gives us in nature that ground us and let us know we’re exactly where we’re meant to be.”

We're thrilled to welcome Eileen Laverty from Saskatchewan as one of our new official showcase artists joining us at the 2026 Folk Canada Conference, taking place October 14–18 in Hamilton, Ontario.

Eileen Laverty is a Canadian singer-songwriter known for her pure, clear voice and heartfelt storytelling. Blending folk, Celtic, and contemporary influences, her songs explore love, hope, and resilience. Eileen has released several albums and is writing a new album to be released in 2027.

What happens when music moves beyond the stage and becomes a tool for connection, participation, and community building? Community Music: Folk Forward brings together musicians who are also active community musicians to explore the ways music can create belonging, strengthen relationships, and amplify diverse voices. Community music emphasizes collaboration, accessibility, shared ownership, and the social power of music, and it can take many forms. In this conversation, panelists will share their experiences balancing careers as performing artists with community-based musical work. Together, they will consider how advocacy, participation, collaboration, and cultural exchange—and putting people first—can help build more connected, creative, and inclusive communities.
