Honouring Red Dress Day – May 5th

On May 5th, we recognize Red Dress Day, also known as the National Day of Awareness for Missing and Murdered Indigenous Women, Girls, and Two-Spirit People (MMIWG2S). This day is a powerful reminder of the disproportionate violence faced by Indigenous women, girls, and 2SLGBTQIA+ communities across Canada. The red dress has become a symbol of the lives lost and a reminder of those that continue to call for justice, awareness, and systemic change. So wear red on Monday and tell others why you're doing so.

Today, 25th November, is the International Day for the Elimination of Violence against Women and start of the 16 days of activism ending 10th December, Human Rights Day. Here in Canada femincide, when a women is killed because she is a women, continues along with violence within and outside the home. During these 16 days support actions to educate others about this issue and push for actions to work towards ending such violence.

May there be lasting Peace throughout the world and the ending of all forms of Violence against Women and Girls
