Who are Rotarians? Community-minded people from all walks of life who come together through Rotary clubs for friendship and fellowship, to help fund community projects, to get involved in ‘doing’ - people like you! Who is the Rotary Club of Nepean-Kanata? Your local Rotary club and one of the Rotary in Ottawa family of 10 clubs in Ottawa. We currently meet Thursday evenings via Zoom, and in person once a month at a local patio to socialise and enjoy each other’s company. Community - We fundraise to support local community groups such as FAMSAC, Michele Heights Community House, the Caldwell Family Centre and the Dr. F. MacDonald Elementary School. We helped the Caldwell Family Centre purchase a much needed new van which they use for donation collections and deliveries to vulnerable individuals and families. In 2021 we raised funds to help the Crystal Bay Centre for Special Education in Nepean purchase a wheelchair accessible swing. The swing will be installed in 2022 when funding is secured. We have adopted a portion of West Hunt Club Road under the Adopt a Roadway Program and each year we clean our portion of Hunt Club. Education - We run an annual Adventure in High Technology program for sponsored high school students in Ontario. The virtual program exposes students to the wide variety of technology opportunities and education facilities across Canada. The program brings senior high school students to Ottawa for 4-day exposure to the wide variety of technology opportunities and education facilities in our area.We support youth through our annual bursary program which provides a $1,000 bursary to eight deserving students in Ottawa. We provide ‘Go with the Flow’ kits to young girls in Ghana and Uganda so they can go to school during their menstrual cycle. Youth - The Rotary Youth Leadership Awards Program brings participants 30 and younger together for a weekend of leadership training and development. Our club participates in the Rotary Youth Exchange Program sponsoring a student to spend a year abroad on an educational/cultural exchange and hosting a student here for the school year to experience our culture. These students become ambassadors for our Rotary club, for Canada and experience a learning opportunity that would not be possible without our assistance. We are able to contribute to all of these initiatives through our various fundraising efforts during the year. We sell chrysanthemums at Thanksgiving, Rotary cash calendars, and we run a charity bingo several times each month. Our members meet weekly for fellowship and to discuss project possibilities and fundraising opportunities. Each week we have a speaker presentation on a variety of subjects.

What a fantastic Sunday connecting with families, neighbours, and community partners at the College Ward Winter Festival at Ben Franklin Place! From skating and warm treats to music and family activities, the energy and community spirit were truly inspiring.

The Nepean Kanata Rotary Club was proud to support this wonderful event by sponsoring free face painting through https://smilefactory.ca/ — and the smiles we saw all afternoon were priceless!

Events like this reflect what Rotary is all about: strengthening our community, supporting local initiatives, and creating opportunities for connection. Whether we’re helping youth programs, supporting food security initiatives, funding community projects, or contributing to global humanitarian efforts, our commitment remains the same — Service Above Self.

A sincere thank you to the City councilor Johnson - College Ward https://www.college-ward.ca/laine for this wonderful event, to the volunteers, and to everyone who stopped by to say hello. Your engagement fuels our mission and reminds us why we serve.

If you’re interested in making a difference locally and globally, we’d love to connect with you. Join us and be part of something meaningful.

Service Above Self in Action!

Every 3rd Thursday of the month, volunteers from the Nepean Kanata Rotary Club roll up their sleeves to help reduce food waste and support families in our community.

Through a partnership with COBS Bread and Lionhearts Inc., we helped “rescue” fresh bread that would otherwise go to waste. Our Rotarians carefully sorted and repacked the donations in the Lionhearts Inc. facilities, which ensures the bread reaches local food banks and families who need it most.

🥖 Food rescued.
🤝 Community supported.
♻️ Waste reduced.

This is what community collaboration looks like — local businesses, service clubs, and nonprofit partners working together to make a tangible difference right here in Nepean and Kanata.

If you’d like to be part of hands-on initiatives that directly impact our community, we’d love to connect with you. Join us and be part of something meaningful.

Nepean Kanata Rotary in Action at Winterlude Youth Exchange!

During the Winterlude, we were proud to support an inspiring Youth Exchange gathering right here in Ottawa. Young leaders from around the world came together to skate, connect, and engage in meaningful discussions about culture, leadership, and global citizenship.

Moments like this remind us why Rotary invests in youth — because when we bring bright, diverse minds together, we help build understanding, friendship, and peace across borders.

It was a weekend filled with laughter on the ice, thoughtful conversations off the rink, and connections that will last a lifetime.

At Nepean Kanata Rotary, we believe in empowering the next generation of leaders — locally and globally.
