SPRING KALLAH | May 1-3, 2026 | DAY 3 RECAP: And while some things come to an end, we live and die carrying NFTY Central Canada memories with us.

📸 Group photos are always fun — Spring Kallah attendees smiling and chattering… sharing their huge hearts and lovin’ on each other! It’s never a dull moment on and off camera when it comes to Kallahs and we are here for it!

✡️ The Great Shabbat Quest had everyone seeking high and low to find advisors in hidden locations spread throughout Cedar Glen grounds. Blood was pumping as teens ran around searching for advisors to receive a stamp to check off an item on their Shabbat shopping list with fun prizes!

😘 Hakarat HaTov, a new NFTY CC tradition started at Winter Kallah 2026 by the Board was carried forward this spring, an opportunity to share gratitude that goes beyond saying “thank you” to appreciating blessings —both large and small that we shared with each other throughout the weekend, marking our final moments together with positivity and abundance.

🎶 Our song leaders and song leaders in training led us in a memorable friendship circle that had us on jet planes and senior circle full of laughs…

🦫 We added beaver beads to our NFTY necklaces to represent the crossover to our new mascot CeCe, completing an important symbolic action that draws kallah to a close and a long-standing tradition that makes our region strong.

🚌 Our Nebesh Leif bid us farewell as we loaded our buses and cars and headed off in different directions geographically but as one, in our hearts.

SPRING KALLAH | May 1-3, 2026 | DAY 2 RECAP: Oh the things we did in a day…

🌅🧘❄️ Snow at Spring Kallah in Canada happens. I guess it’s a thing! That didn’t stop us though, as early risers hit the yoga mats with big smiles and downward dogs to welcome in the second day of Kallah.

🎵📜 Our fabulous song leaders and percussionist led us in Shabbat services followed by an insightful D’Var by our very own Jordan.

🏯🕍 Societies were built and laws were established by groups, all in fun with beautiful creations abound.

🙏🏽 Lunch included gratitude and blue froggy roses to our wonderful bunch of advisors who worked behind the scenes to support and staff kallah.

🪢 Low ropes and high ropes and obstacles courses filled the afternoon with giggling, team building, and outdoor fun with Cedar Glen staff.

🐸🦫 A retirement party like no other — the regional mentor was knighted as the region celebrated our frog mascot and Lily, Tad, and James Pond contributions since the 70s. Hannah B was honoured for the design and creation of CeCe, Ezra for serving as Prez during our regional change from NEL to Central Canada with poise and graceful leadership, and Conrad for carrying forth our lore, traditions, and history as our North American Board representative! A fun dance sesh ensued and everyone became part of CeCe’s history as they signed her belly tank.

🎤 Senior speeches by the campfire left many in tears, our faces lit by the Havdallah candle and traditional and modern songs floated around echoing against the wooded serenity.

🗒️ Nebnote was a riot. And bedtime was disregarded. A fun eventful day indeed.

SPRING KALLAH | MAY 1-3, 2026 | DAY 1 RECAP: Sixty-two teens and 10 advisors from Halifax, Ottawa, Guelph, Barrie, and the Greater Toronto Area descended upon YMCA Cedar Glen Outdoor Centre this past weekend in our largest kallah since COVID!

✈️🐸 Tad, Lily, and James Pond escorted their new Nova Scotian friends, Tal, Ayalah, and Maya to camp, welcoming them into our NFTY CC family and the region. Our new mascot, CeCe was ready as everyone stepped off the bus, her big heart spreading joy.

💐 The bouquet making activity brought out everyone’s creativity as flower-themed table runners, mini vases and bouquet centrepieces adorned Shabbat with festive colour and beauty.

🗳️ Elections were fun and for the first time in a long time in the region, the board positions were all filled with Hannah as President, Hailey as Programming VP, Zahra as Communications VP, Jordan as Membership VP, Noah and Max as Religious and Cultural VP, and Tea as Social Action VP. Our first task was to identify a teen who would embody the region’s heart, soul, and ruach and serve as our Nebesh!

🚼 Eli and Bella led a fabulous Nebucation, now called CCrash Course for newbies. As teens busily built structures with spaghetti and marshmallows, they were introduced to the region’s lore, traditions, and NFTY cheer.

🎶🎸🥁 Kabbalat Shabbat Services led by our highly talented song leaders Ayla, Bella and Yael was a blast and for the first time ever at Kallah, a percussionist, Gabe, helped us keep the beat!

🔥 And although there was no fire insight, we went to bed with hearts full of joy and curiosity.

Happy International Women’s Day! Today we’re celebrating amazing Jewish women whose discoveries, inventions, and achievements have had a lasting impact on the world. From groundbreaking science to lifesaving innovations, their work continues to inspire and shape our lives.

Last night, just before 11:00 p.m., someone drove up to Temple Emanu-El, in Toronto, and fired more than a dozen shots at the main glass doors. We are grateful that no one was physically hurt. This occurred right after a Purim evening celebration - a night filled with joy, laughter, and community which makes this act of violence even more disgusting.

While this news is deeply unsettling, Temple Emanu-El is already working with law enforcement and security professionals to strengthen security measures.

NFTY Central Canada has close ties to Temple Emanu-El. Our President and Regional Mentor are both part of the congregation, and the Temple Youth Group, FEISTY are an important part of our NFTY community. Our hearts are one with the Temple Emanu-El community as we stand in solidarity.
