🥗 Did you know? Each year, an estimated 600 million people fall ill from unsafe food—putting lives, livelihoods, and health systems at risk.

On , we're highlighting how food safety is connected to animal health, environmental change, and public health—and why protecting our food requires a One Health approach.

🐸 Can a frog help fight climate change?

Maybe not by itself. But in northern Laos, frog farming is one of many ways communities are adapting to changing weather patterns, diversifying livelihoods, and building resilience for the future.

Through VWB's VETS program and our partnership with CARE Laos, farmers are combining local knowledge with climate-smart agriculture, improved animal health, water management, and alternative livelihoods to navigate an increasingly uncertain climate.

🐾 In Fort McPherson, dogs like Bear and Dark Eye return to our clinics year after year.

Bear was once abandoned. Now, he’s healthy, strong, and loved. His family depends on visiting veterinary teams, because without them, care wouldn’t have been accessible.

Then there’s Dark Eye. He came in for his annual vaccines, perfectly healthy. He didn’t need treatment, but he still stayed. That matters too.

Because access to care isn’t only about emergencies. It’s about prevention and making sure dogs stay healthy over time.

🩺 Right now, your gift can help more animals receive the preventive care they need. Thanks to our match donor Zoetis, every donation will be matched, helping keep dogs healthy before issues become serious.

🥛 Strong dairy systems start with knowledge, collaboration, and community.

Across many communities, dairy farming depends on animal health, practical training, and local leadership. From herd health and nutrition to everyday farm management, small changes can help farmers improve production and strengthen livelihoods over time.

This , we’re highlighting how veterinary knowledge, local partnerships, and community-led learning can support stronger dairy farming systems.

👉 Swipe to explore 4 ways knowledge strengthens dairy farming.

🌿 What keeps a volunteer returning to Kenyan farming communities, year after year?

For Agricultural Advisor Donald Hilborn, it’s the opportunity to keep building on practical solutions alongside farmers themselves. During his third VETS placement in Kenya, Donald worked with Meru Dairy farmers to explore lucerne as a high-protein forage crop that can help strengthen milk production, improve soil health, and reduce reliance on costly feed purchases.

🗣️ “Even relatively small improvements — a better forage crop, improved soil management, more balanced feed systems — can contribute to healthier animals, stronger milk production, and greater resilience for farming families.”

🐾 Barsik was too weak to move. He had been living near a hospital in Kyiv, where people would leave food when they could. But over time, his condition worsened.

When he was finally found, he wasn’t alone.

Another dog, Grom, had been there too. Sadly, he didn’t survive.

Barsik was brought in for urgent care, where he was treated and given a chance to recover.

That’s how much timing matters when care isn’t within reach.

🩺 Right now, your gift can help reach animals before it’s too late. Thanks to our match donor Zoetis, every donation will be doubled — helping deliver urgent care when every moment counts.

🎯 In March 2026, VETS Volunteer Technical Advisor, Dr. Geoffrey Akabua, led a refresher training for 11 Community Animal Health Workers in Adidome, located in Ghana’s Volta Region, including 8 women.

The focus?

✅ Strengthening community-based animal health services
✅ Refreshing local knowledge and skills
✅ Supporting farmers with limited access to veterinary care

Community Animal Health Workers play an important role in helping livestock and poultry farmers access animal health support within their own communities.

By strengthening local capacity and knowledge-sharing, these trainings help improve access to animal health services and support more resilient livelihoods.

🌍 Biodiversity is often framed around protected wilderness and endangered species. But many of the world’s ecosystems are also shaped by daily relationships between people, animals, grazing land, water, and food systems.

This , we’re exploring biodiversity from the perspective of healthy rangelands, animal health, and community resilience.
