Preventing renovictions prevents people from falling into homelessness, and we believe in preventing and ending homelessness, not just managing it.

We're honoured and grateful to be among this group of fantastic community organizations receiving Community Sector Leadership Grants from the Ottawa Community Foundation. 💛This funding will support the Alliance in our work to convene stakeholders, support city-wide strategies, and advance system innovations that improve coordination, strengthen policy responses, and reduce inflow into homelessness in Ottawa.

We’re pleased to share that we’re distributing $4.8M over five years to 10 local collectives and organizations through our Community Sector Leadership Grants stream.🌟

“Input from communities and research confirms that one of the greatest unmet needs in the charitable sector remains long-term, unrestricted funding,” said Michael Maidment, ICD.D, President and CEO of the Ottawa Community Foundation. “This is particularly important for organizations that make networks of charities more effective through coordination, advocacy, and collective leadership.”

Because of the collaborative nature of their work, we expect these grants will reach nearly 300 frontline charities and tens of thousands of hashtag residents.

The 10 organizations are:
- Alliance to End Homelessness Ottawa
- Arts Ottawa
- Accesscss / Accesssc
- Ottawa Aboriginal Coalition
- Ottawa Coalition of Community Health and Resource Centres
- Ottawa Coalition of Community Houses
- Ottawa Coalition to End Violence Against Women (OCTEVAW)
- Ottawa Child and Youth Initiative
- Ottawa Lead Agency for Child and Youth Mental Health Sector (Youth Services Bureau of Ottawa / Bureau des services à la jeunesse)
- Refugee613/Réfugié613

We are grateful to our network of donors for making these types of transformational community grants possible. 🫶

Did you know? The OCH Foundation is now one of the charities of choice in the Race to End Homelessness. That means every step you take can create opportunities for people living in Ottawa Community Housing - OCH communities.

Run so a child can receive a backpack filled with school supplies. Run so a young person can join a recreation program and build confidence, friendships, and new skills. Run so a neighbour can receive a bike to get to work, school, or appointments. Every kilometre you run can help your community.

If you're planning to participate in the Race to End Homelessness this year, please consider running in support of the OCH Foundation and help create brighter futures.
