Harvest of Hope 2026: A Night to Remember! 🧡
What an incredible evening of community, generosity, and hope! On Thursday October 1st The Caldwell Family Centre celebrated our 14th Annual Harvest of Hope Gala where community members, local businesses, sponsors, and supporters came together with one shared goal: reducing the impact of poverty in Ottawa.
From the amazing performance by OrKidstra to the exciting live and silent auctions, the evening was a powerful reminder of what we can accomplish when we come together to support our neighbours. Thanks to the generosity of our community, we celebrated an evening filled with meaningful connections, incredible generosity, and a shared commitment to making a difference. Every ticket purchased, sponsorship received, auction bid placed, and donation made helps strengthen the programs and services that support individuals and families in our community.

🥚🛍️ We need your empties!

We are looking for clean, empty egg cartons—and we are still very much in need of clean, reusable shopping bags.

If you have a stack taking over your cupboard or closet, we would be incredibly grateful to put them to good use!

🧡 Every Child Matters | Honoring National Day for Truth and Reconciliation 🧡

On September 30th, the Caldwell Family Centre stands in solidarity with First Nations, Inuit, and Métis communities across Ottawa and Canada as we observe the National Day for Truth and Reconciliation and Orange Shirt Day.

At the Caldwell Family Centre, our mission is to reduce the impact of poverty, and our vision is an Ottawa where every resident lives with dignity. We recognize that poverty, housing insecurity, and systemic barriers in Indigenous communities are directly linked to the intergenerational legacy of the residential school system. True community well-being cannot exist without listening to Indigenous truths, addressing systemic root causes, and supporting Indigenous self-determination.
Together, let’s listen to the truth, honor Indigenous resilience, and take meaningful action toward lasting reconciliation.

Our Community Information Session was a great success! 🎉 We were happy to welcome community members and bring together local organizations and partners to share information about their services, programs, and resources.
A big thank you to Ottawa Public Health, Catholic Centre for Immigrants (CCI), Immigrant Women Services Ottawa (IWSO), Carlington Community Health Centre, Carlington Community Connections, and the Ottawa Catholic School Board for joining us and connecting directly with our community. 💙
We received wonderful feedback from participants, and we’re grateful to everyone who helped make the session welcoming and informative. Thank you to our Caldwell Family Centre team and everyone who contributed to making the event possible.

Our community has spoken — and we’re listening.
Caldwell Family Centre was proud to participate in Feed Ontario’s Postcard Campaign, giving community members an opportunity to share what they believe is needed to build stronger, healthier, and more affordable communities.
The messages we heard were clear. Our community is calling for:
🏠 More affordable housing
💼 Better wages, job opportunities, and job training — especially for newcomers
🍎 Increased funding for food banks and expanded hours to better serve people who work during the day
👧 More programs, summer camps, and opportunities for children
🚌 Better and more accessible public transit
🤝 More programs that bring people together and strengthen community connections
🛡️ Safer communities
🍽️ Greater access to enough nutritious food for families experiencing food insecurity
