From building robots to exploring AI, their STEM camps are packed with fun, hands-on learning.

We joined campers in activities that built digital literacy and creative problem-solving skills, while discovering just how exciting and accessible STEM can be. Experiences like these help youth see themselves in science and technology, sparking curiosity, building confidence, and making STEM feel real and relevant.

Big thanks to the incredible team behind this, creating a space where the next generation of innovators can dream big, explore boldly, and discover that STEM is for them. 💡

Meta just agreed to an $18 billion settlement with 48 U.S. states over the impact of its platforms on kids and teens.

The result? New protections are coming for users under 18, including screen-time limits, muted notifications, algorithm opt-outs and restrictions on beauty filters.

So, what happens in Canada?
For now, there are no comparable protections mandated here leaving parents, educators and communities with much of the responsibility.

That’s why digital literacy matters. Young people need more than app settings; they need the skills to understand algorithms, think critically about what they see and navigate the online world safely.

That’s a wrap on an unforgettable summer of STEM! ☀️✨

As August comes to a close, we’re reflecting on this season of Actua’s outreach delivery. Across 20 communities in Nunavut, the Northwest Territories and Alberta, our instructors brought STEM experiences to over 430 youth in deep impact week-long summer camps and over 250 additional youth with STEM workshop opportunities.

Actua’s mission comes to life in these moments: transformative STEM engagement can expand how young people see themselves and what they believe is possible for their future. Watching youth discover the pure joy of STEM right in their communities is a reminder of why this work matters.

To our amazing instructors who poured their energy into every activity, our welcoming community partners, local leaders and every family who opened their doors to us—thank you.

We had the absolute pleasure of co-hosting teachers, researchers and AI & education leaders from across Canada, the U.S. and Hong Kong for the AI Exchange conference, alongside MIT RAISE and Toronto Metropolitan University. 🇨🇦🇺🇸🇭🇰

The energy was incredible. From exploring our new classroom activities to discussing how to teach students about ethical AI in practical ways.

We are officially kicking off the AI Exchange: Empowering Educators for Tomorrow conference, co-hosted by Actua, MIT RAISE and Toronto Metropolitan University.
