Abandoned and derelict vessels are essentially boats and ships that have been left unused and neglected. Abandoned vessels describe floating boats left behind by their owners, usually due to financial issues or loss of interest. Whereas derelict vessels, describe vessels that are abandoned and deteriorating. Often derlict vessels are in such poor condition that they are no longer seaworthy and can leech harmful substances into the water. Although not a commonly considered ocean issues, these abanonded ships often pose a combination of safety, environmental, and navigational hazards.🌊🚢
