The gang was out for the annual spring clean up of the cemetery. Lots of good work done. Thank you everyone!
Preparation for the Cemetery Service which will be held Sunday June 14 at 2pm.

05/06/2026

It is time for the Annual Spring Clean Up of the cemetery grounds. A โ€œWork Dayโ€ is planned for Friday May 15 from 10 am until noon.
We will be working on picking up branches and garbage that have accumulated over the winter, spreading topsoil and grass seed on areas that have become uneven, trimming trees and overgrown shrubs and preparing the flower beds at the entrance for the summer.
Cemetery Board members volunteers spend many hours throughout the season to keep the cemetery looking beautiful. We are hoping you can attend as many hands make the job easier.
Please bring any of the following things if you have them; work gloves, shovel or rake, pruning implements or a wheelbarrow.

Also, the annual Memorial Service will be held on Sunday, June 14, 2026 at 2 pm in the Cemetery.

Our winter project, to make a list of Military veterans buried or commemorated in St George's Hawthorne cemetery is complete. With the help of Gloucester Historical Society, we have compiled a list of 45 veterans, including one female who will all be honoured on Remembrance Day.
This is Florence Clark Moxley (nee Hill), second wife of W. Cyrus Moxley. In WW1, she joined the American Red Cross and served in Italy from April 1918 until March 1919. We are grateful to the Gloucester Historical Society for the photograph.
