Community is built by showing up for one another, sometimes that means trading the warehouse for the softball field. ⚾

Our Lionhearts Ottawa team had a great time taking part in Harvest House’s 39th Annual Recovery Cup this past weekend.

We were joined on the field by friends from Teen Challenge Canada and The Ottawa Mission, with members of our local Amazon donation crew coming out to cheer us on.

We’re fortunate to work alongside organizations throughout Ottawa that do incredible work every day. Getting together outside of our usual roles, to build relationships, have some fun and support the important work of Harvest House. It made for a pretty great Saturday.

And Team Lionhearts managed to finish 3rd in our division! 🥉

Thanks to Harvest House for having us and for creating an event that brings Ottawa together around recovery, connection and second chances.

Picture this, our Ottawa warehouse and a delivery truck pulling up. Last week, a large load of rescued food arrived at our Ottawa warehouse, pallets of fresh fruit and vegetables, along with packaged food that still had plenty of value and somewhere to go.

The truck gets unloaded, our team of volunteers checks everything, sorts it and starts working through where it can go.

And then, often just as quickly as it arrived, it starts heading back out the door.

That part matters.

Lionhearts works with more than 90 agencies and community partners across Ottawa, and every one of them serves people in different ways. Food banks, shelters, community organizations and frontline programs all have different needs. Our job is to connect as much of what we rescue as possible with the organizations that can put it to use.

A delivery like this isn’t unusual enough to stop the warehouse for a photo op. This is the work.

Food comes in. Our team gets to work. Our partners get it into the community. And something that could have been lost becomes food on someone’s table instead.

It takes delivery vans, fuel, warehouse space, equipment and people to make that happen. That’s where our donors come in.

For every $1 donated to Lionhearts, we’re able to generate approximately $15 in community impact.

If you’d like to help us keep trucks moving and good food reaching communities across Ottawa, consider making a donation to support the work.

We were pleased to welcome Bruce Fanjoy, MP for Carleton to our Ottawa warehouse today to meet our team and some of the incredible students working with Lionhearts this summer through the Canada Summer Jobs program.

Thanks to the support of the Government of Canada, we're able to employ five students this summer who are helping recover and redistribute food and essential goods to charities and community organizations across the Ottawa region (three of them made it for a photo). Their work is making a meaningful difference every day while providing valuable hands-on experience in the charitable sector.

Thank you to for taking the time to visit, and to Employment and Social Development Canada for investing in young people and strengthening organizations like Lionhearts that serve our communities.

Last year, we delivered 5,500 Student Food Boxes equalling $440,000 in food support to families with elementary and secondary school students.

Every box helps ease grocery costs and ensures children have the nourishment they need to learn, grow, and thrive.

🎉 Our 2025 Annual Impact Report is here!

Today, we're celebrating what an incredible community of volunteers, donors, corporate partners, foundations, staff, and frontline agencies accomplished together in 2025.

Behind every number is a person.

❤️ A family receiving essential groceries.
❤️ A meal shared with dignity.
❤️ A frontline agency better equipped to serve its community.
❤️ A volunteer giving their time to make a difference.

Together in 2025, we:

✔️ Rescued 1.7 million pounds of food and essential goods.
✔️ Delivered $13.6 million in community impact.
✔️ Supported 212 partner agencies and community organizations across Ontario.
✔️ Prepared 82,335 meals while helping provide approximately 15,000 meals every week.

These achievements were only possible because of people like you who believe that no good food should go to waste and that every person deserves dignity, hope, and practical support.

This report celebrates what we accomplished together—but more importantly, it's a glimpse of what's possible in the years ahead.
