ATV Safety Week: Protect Your Head
You only get one head—protect it.
Wearing a helmet isn’t just a recommendation… it’s one of the most important safety decisions you make every time you ride.
A properly fitted helmet can significantly reduce the risk of serious head injury—giving you the protection you need when it matters most.
👉 Before every ride, make sure your helmet:
• Fits snug and secure
• Is in good condition
• Is comfortable for longer rides
• Is DOT approved
👉 That DOT label matters.
It means your helmet meets tested safety standards designed to protect you on impact.
And the most important rule of all:
👉 Wear it. Every ride. No exceptions.
Because ATV safety isn’t just about rules—
it’s about making sure every ride ends the way it should.
With you getting home safe.

Know What to Watch For
Not all plants on the trail are harmless.
Some can cause serious skin reactions—and others can damage our trail systems if spread.
👉 Know these common Ontario trail hazards:
🌿 Wild Parsnip
Can cause severe skin burns when exposed to sunlight
🌿 Giant Hogweed
Highly toxic—can lead to serious burns and blistering
🌿 Poison Ivy
Causes itchy rashes and irritation
🌿 Dog-Strangling Vine
Invasive plant that spreads quickly and chokes out native vegetation
👉 If you see them:
• Avoid contact
• Stay on the trail
• Don’t ride through dense patches
And don’t forget—
👉 Wash your machine after your ride to prevent spreading them to other trails
Because knowing what to look for…
helps protect both riders and trails.

Respect the Trails. Respect the People Behind Them.

Did you know every OFATV trail on QuadON exists because a landowner has granted permission?

Behind every kilometre of trail are dedicated volunteers who:
✔ Maintain trails
✔ Clear fallen trees
✔ Install signs
✔ Build bridges
✔ Work with landowners to keep trails open

One careless rider can damage a relationship. Thousands of responsible riders help protect it.

Before you ride, check QuadON for trail status and closures. Riding only on open trails helps protect landowner relationships and keeps volunteers focused on improving trails.
Remember:
🏡 Respect the Landowners
🤝 Respect the Volunteers
🚜 Respect the Trails

👉 Check QuadON Before You Ride.
👉 Ride Smart. Ride Safe. Ride Ontario.

ATV Safety Week: Plants That Harm
The trails aren’t just about what you ride on…
It’s also about what you ride through.
Some plants can harm you—and others can harm the trails we all rely on.
👉 Watch for:
• Skin irritation, burns, or rashes
• Overgrowth hiding hazards along the trail
• Plants that can spread quickly and take over
👉 Here’s the bigger issue…
Invasive plants spread easily by attaching to:
• Tires
• Undercarriage
• Boots and gear
Once they spread, they can damage ecosystems, impact trail access, and increase maintenance for clubs and volunteers.
👉 What you can do:
• Stay on designated trails
• Avoid riding through overgrown areas
• Wash your machine after every ride
• Clean your gear before heading to another trail
👉 Clean machines = protected trails
Because protecting our trails today…
means we can ride them tomorrow.
