Afghan Women's Foundation (AWF) is proud to take part in "From Declaration to Action"

Sughra Saadat, Founder of the Afghan Women's Foundation (AWF), will be speaking at "From Declaration to Action: Advancing the Recognition of Gender Apartheid as a Crime Against Humanity" on August 13 at Carleton University, Ottawa.

This event marks the Canadian public launch of the International Experts' Declaration on Gender Apartheid , an initiative developed with more than 50 leading international legal experts and advocates, including Nobel laureates and former UN officials.

Five years after the Taliban's return to power, this gathering offers a space to reflect on the realities facing Afghan women and girls, and to call on the Government of Canada to champion the inclusion of gender apartheid in the proposed Crimes Against Humanity Convention.

The event is free and open to the public.

Through art and poetry, she expresses compassion, grief, and hope, reminding us that violence can never silence the dignity, resilience, and dreams of Afghanistan's girls.

This year, we had the honor of celebrating this beautiful day with our community in Ottawa , a gathering of Afghan women who carry within them the strength of a nation, the warmth of a home, and the hope of a better future.

The Afghanistan Women Foundation (AWF) will be celebrating Mother’s Day with a special community gathering for Afghan women in Ottawa on May 10, 2026.

The event will bring together women from the community for an evening of connection, appreciation, cultural exchange, and community building in a warm and welcoming environment.

The gathering will also include discussions focused on women’s empowerment, community engagement, and strengthening awareness around personal and social development.
