This year, we had the honor of celebrating this beautiful day with our community in Ottawa , a gathering of Afghan women who carry within them the strength of a nation, the warmth of a home, and the hope of a better future.

To every Afghan mother who has rebuilt her life in a new land, who raises her children between two cultures, who holds her family together while finding herself , we see you, we honor you, and we celebrate you.

The Afghanistan Women Foundation (AWF) will be celebrating Mother’s Day with a special community gathering for Afghan women in Ottawa on May 10, 2026.

The event will bring together women from the community for an evening of connection, appreciation, cultural exchange, and community building in a warm and welcoming environment.

The gathering will also include discussions focused on women’s empowerment, community engagement, and strengthening awareness around personal and social development.

On March 19, 2025, Sughra Saadat, Board of Directors member at Afghanistan Women Foundation (AWF), participated in the 'Gender Equality – Unfinished Business' panel discussion, co-hosted by the G7 Gender Equality Advisory Council (GEAC) and Women 7 (W7). The event focused on advancing gender equality in a challenging global context, with a special emphasis on Afghanistan. Sughra Saadat represented AWF in highlighting the ongoing struggles of Afghan women, who continue to be marginalized and excluded from key decision-making processes. AWF remains committed to advocating for the rights and inclusion of Afghan women in global discussions.

به مناسبت ماه مارچ!
از بدو تسلط دور دوم رژیم طالبان، سیاست‌های سرکوب‌گرشان از طریق وضع فرامین و انتشار قانون امر به معروف و نهی از منکر به هدف تحقیر و خانه‌نشینی زنان همواره ادامه داشته است. شاید برای نظریه‌پردازان این رژیم قابل‌ پیش‌بینی هم نبود که داعیه مشروعیت‌طلبی‌شان توسط همان زنان تحقیرشده و خانه‌نشین به یاس تبدیل خواهد شد. زنان رهبری خیزش‌های اجتماعی را در دل خیابان‌های پر از باروت و خون بر عهده گرفتند و تاوان سنگینی هم دادند. واکنش جامعه افغانستانی به خشونت راهبردی و سیستماتیک علیه زنان، یک واقعه تاریخی را در حافظه‌ همه‌ ما ثبت می‌کند؛ آیا مردان با زنان بر سر مساله‌ای که تنها دغدغه زنان نبود، ایستادند؟ مسئولیت اجتماعی مردان کشور در برابر حضور زنان در جامعه چیست؟

بنیاد زنان افغانستان این مهم را با بردیا معین؛ نویسنده و پژوهشگر برجسته کشور (کارشناس ارشد جامعه‌شناسی سیاسی) به گفتگو می‌نشیند.

اعلامیه بنیاد زنان افغانستان در محکومیت ممنوعیت تحصیل زنان در انستیتوت‌های طبی

بنیاد زنان افغانستان به‌شدت اقدام اخیر طالبان در منع دختران و زنان از تحصیل در انستیتوت‌های طبی کشور را محکوم می‌کند. این تصمیم که پس از ممنوعیت حضور دختران در مکاتب و دانشگاه‌ها اتخاذ شده، تعدی آشکار دیگری به حقوق اساسی زنان افغانستان است و پیامدهای فاجعه‌باری برای دسترسی به خدمات بهداشتی در کشور خواهد داشت.
طالبان با این اقدام، بار دیگر ثابت کردند که محدودیت‌های تحمیلی علیه زنان تنها به هدف حذف سیستماتیک آنان از عرصه‌های آموزشی، حرفه‌ای و اجتماعی صورت می‌گیرد. این ممنوعیت، نه‌تنها حق مسلم زنان برای آموزش را نقض می‌کند، بلکه پیامدهای گسترده‌ای برای سلامت عمومی کشور خواهد داشت. از آنجا که بیشتر از ۸۵ درصد خدمات مادری و نوزادی در افغانستان توسط قابله ها صورت میگیرد که در نبودشان، به‌ویژه در شرایطی که زنان و کودکان افغانستان نیازمند مراقبت‌های صحی هستند، بحران انسانی و بهداشتی را در کشور عمیق‌تر می‌کند.
این محدودیت‌های بی‌سابقه که از سوی رهبر طالبان، صادر شده است، نه‌تنها در تضاد با حقوق بشر و اصول اسلامی قرار دارد، بلکه با وعده‌های مکرر طالبان مبنی بر موقتی‌بودن این ممنوعیت‌ها نیز در تناقض است. اکنون، پس از گذشت بیش از سه سال از آغاز این محدودیت‌ها، هیچ اقدام موثری برای رفع آن صورت نگرفته است و وعده‌های طالبان چیزی جز فریبی برای جامعه بین‌المللی نبوده‌اند.
بنیاد زنان افغانستان از سازمان ملل متحد، نهادهای حقوق بشری، و جامعه جهانی می‌خواهد که:
این اقدام طالبان را به‌عنوان آپارتاید جنسیتی محکوم کنند.
برای تضمین حق آموزش زنان افغانستان از تمامی ابزارهای دیپلماتیک و قانونی استفاده نمایند.
اقدامات عملی برای حمایت از دختران و زنانی که از حق آموزش و مشارکت اجتماعی محروم شده‌اند، اتخاذ کنند.
ما بار دیگر تأکید می‌کنیم که آموزش، یک حق اساسی و غیرقابل انکار است و هیچ توجیهی نمی‌تواند آن را از زنان و دختران افغانستان سلب کند. جامعه جهانی نباید در برابر چنین نقض گسترده‌ای از حقوق بشر سکوت کند.
