Join us for a special evening of storytelling and live music 🇺🇦

Getting to Know Ukraine and Why We Care brings together powerful stories, cultural reflection, and music that connects us to Ukrainian roots and identity.

Ottawa author David Chernushenko will share readings from Standing with Underdogs, a personal family memoir exploring his Ukrainian heritage.

The evening will also feature moving performances by the Ukies Choir, led by director Tamara Osadcha, with Ukrainian songs and cultural insights.

Wine and cheese book launch with David Chernushenko. “Standing with Underdogs” – a historical family and personal memoir, prompted by Russia’s full-scale invasion in 2022.

The former Ottawa city councillor, environmental educator and journalist will read excerpts and talk about what prompted his research and how this has influenced him as a Ukrainian-Canadian.

Fundraiser for the Canada-Ukraine Foundation. Books available for purchase and signing. (Christmas is coming!)

We invite you to create your own hand-painted holiday ornament in the Petrykivka style - bright, warm and fully handmade. A little piece of art that will remind you of your mood and creativity every time you look at your tree 🎄

Join us for an oil painting workshop with the talented Akseniia Karpachova on November 29, 2025, from 16:00–19:00.

Whether you’re an experienced artist or you’ve only ever painted your grocery list, you’ll walk away with your own bright sunflower masterpiece. All materials are included, and the vibe will be warm, creative, and very cozy.
