On a snowy winter evening, bringing stories from just before Christmas 2025. St. Gemma Elementary School, Grade 2 and 3 students with big hearts, collected and donated toiletries for our clients. When a household budget is stretched to the breaking point, it's not only food that is needed. HEFC sends enormous thanks to these students and their teachers, who have shown the spirit of generosity to their neighbours.

Immaculate Heart of Mary Christmas Concert raises record amount of donations for HEFC.

Congratulations to Kayle Osborne, Ottawa born goalie for the PWHL's New York Sirens, who will represent Canada at the 2026 Winter Olympics in Italy alongside her 22 teammates from across Canada. All of Ottawa will be cheering you on Kayle!

Normande Sylvain, our hero for December, appears to have limitless energy that matches her warmth, kindness, and positive attitude. Normande, who is bilingual, has been volunteering on Wednesday evenings at HEFC for over two years now and really enjoys it. She is skilled at managing anxious people, because in her day job as a nurse, she provides assessments for patients awaiting elective surgery. Normande comes by her ability to work a crowd naturally, due to her large immediate family, and thrives in situations of confusion and chaos. She really enjoys meeting people from different cultures and getting to know them. HEFC is thrilled to have Normande as a dedicated volunteer.
