For more than two centuries, Black Canadians have served this country in uniform, often before they were fully welcomed by it. This November, we want to make sure their courage is remembered, and we would be honoured to have your organization stand with us.

Jaku Konbit and the Defence Team Black Employees Network warmly invite you to:

REMEMBRANCE CEREMONY – Honouring the Courage & Legacy of Black Veterans
Saturday, November 7, 2026 | 4:00 – 6:00 p.m.
Sir John A. Macdonald Building, 144 Wellington Street, Ottawa

It will be a solemn and meaningful afternoon, bringing together veterans, serving members, families, cadets and community leaders to remember their service, acknowledge their sacrifice, and affirm their rightful place in our history.

Three simple ways to take part:
1. Attend, and bring your members, elders and families
2. Lay a wreath on behalf of your organization (just let us know)

3. Share the attached flyer with your networks

Please reply to this email to confirm your attendance and let us know if you would like to lay a wreath.

A reminder from The Royal Canadian Legion.

With the Poppy Campaign and Remembrance Day approaching, you will begin to see a variety of retailers popping up illegally selling products using the Poppy for profit. (flags, hats, shirts, blankets, jewelry etc.)

The reason The Royal Canadian Legion holds the trademark on the Poppy is to ensure this sacred symbol of Remembrance is used with respect and to protect it from unauthorized retailers who use the symbol inappropriately.

When purchasing your Remembrance items, please ensure they are from an authorized source - such as www.poppystore.ca, www.amazon.ca/legion , or your local Legion Branch. When you shop through these channels, you can be confident that proceeds go directly to the Legion, helping us continue our important work with and for Canada’s Veterans.

Thank you to everyone who supports our annual Poppy Campaign. Your generosity makes contributions like this possible!
