Community Veterinary Outreach

Community Veterinary Outreach Community Veterinary Outreach's clinics provide preventive veterinary care & connect homeless pet owners to healthcare & social services. DMs are not monitored.

We receive many emails from pet owners in need of urgent care for their pet. As we are a primarily volunteer-run organization, we do NOT currently offer urgent or emergency care. IF your pet is in need of emergency care, please take your pet to the closest veterinary clinic, emergency veterinary hospital OR local humane society.

One of the best parts of the Making More Health Together Conference? The people! ๐ŸŒ๐Ÿฉต

Alongside our Spotlight presentation, we had the opportunity to host two โ€œBraindatesโ€ โ€” small-group conversations with changemakers and organizations from around the world who share our passion for One Health and health equity.

We left with new ideas, new connections, and plenty to follow up on! ๐Ÿซถ

We were also thrilled to see CVO featured in the conferenceโ€™s interactive display alongside this yearโ€™s other featured organizations. A huge thank you to the organizing team for bringing our work to life in such a creative way!

Today is World Mental Health Day โ€” a reminder that mental health is an important part of overall health and well-being. ๐Ÿฉต ๐Ÿพ

For people who are unhoused or vulnerably housed, the bond with a beloved pet can provide comfort, connection, and companionship during difficult times. Thatโ€™s why supporting both people and their pets matters. ๐Ÿ’™

At Community Veterinary Outreach, we believe in a One Health approach that recognizes the powerful connection between human, animal, and environment.

Research supported by organizations like the Animal Bond Research Institute - HABRI highlights the important role of the human-animal bond in our well-being. Explore the publications on our website to learn more about research quantifying the mental health effects of pet ownership. ๐Ÿ”— https://www.vetoutreach.org/publications

Letโ€™s continue creating communities where pets and their people can feel supported, cared for, and connected. ๐Ÿซถ

๐Ÿพ Feeding your pet shouldn't require a nutrition degree!

With so much conflicting information about pet nutrition, how do you know what's actually best for your furry friend?

Join us for our next Pet Parent Talk, sponsored by NVA Canada, featuring Jen Cote, RVT, as she shares practical, everyday feeding tips to help you make informed decisions about your pet's nutrition.

With more than 20 years of experience in veterinary medicine and nutrition, Jen brings a wealth of knowledge (and plenty of firsthand pet-parent experience!) to the conversation.

๐Ÿถ Learn how to navigate everyday feeding decisions, cut through the confusion, and feel more confident about what's going into your pet's bowl.

This talk is part of Community Veterinary Outreach's Cross-Canada Challenge, happening October 1โ€“31!

Barrie veterinary leaders โ€” weโ€™d love to have you at the table.

Veterinary teams across Barrie are already doing important work to support clients facing financial stress, trauma and other barriers to care. This evening is an opportunity to bring that experience together.

Join Community Veterinary Outreach and fellow veterinary leaders for a complimentary evening of dinner, professional learning and networking โ€” with practical discussion about what teams are seeing in practice, approaches that are working, and how we can collectively strengthen access to care for pets and people across the region.

Weโ€™ll explore trauma-informed veterinary care, communication and decision-making in complex situations, and strategies for some of the challenging interactions veterinary teams navigate every day.

Youโ€™ll also hear about CVOโ€™s Community Leaders Practice Program and opportunities for veterinary practices to help extend access to care beyond our outreach clinics.
