The 3rd Annual Paugan Falls Rapids x Next Shift Hockey Gear Up Kids Event was another incredible success. ❤️🏒
This year, 61 athletes joined us in beautiful Low, Quebec — 18 more than last year. Some families travelled more than 3 hours from Rapid Lake First Nation just to be there.
That says everything about how much this event means.
The Paugan Falls Rapids executive continues to show what real community leadership looks like. They are not just growing a hockey program — they are creating opportunities, bringing people together, and making sure more kids have the chance to belong in this game.
Yesterday also became incredibly personal for me.
This executive knows how much I value the people who give the most valuable thing they have — their time.
I was presented with a game-worn Paugan Falls Rapids jersey from our ambassador Aidan Foley, who plays for the team.
My original jersey was lost in our house fire.
I was not expecting this moment at all, and the emotions were very real.
It wasn't just a jersey.
It was a reminder that the relationships we build through hockey matter.

People remember. People care. And sometimes the community you are trying to support turns around and supports you.

To Aidan, the Pugan Falls Rapids executive, the volunteers, families and everyone involved — thank you from the bottom of my heart.

You gave me back a piece of something I thought was gone.

61 athletes. 61 opportunities. One incredible community. And one jersey I will never forget receiving.

We love making hockey more affordable for everyone. Thanks to the Frontenac Fury for reaching out. We were more than happy to put together 70 practice jerseys for their players and goalies.

This fund is about more than paying a fee. It is about removing barriers, creating opportunities and helping families stay connected to the game they love.

We had the privilege of assisting 40 athletes of all ages and welcoming them into the game we love. There is something truly special about entering a new community, hearing the laughter, seeing the smiles, and watching people light up as they take another step toward their hockey dreams.

These are the dreams we believe in—not only dreams of playing professionally, but dreams of belonging, building confidence, forming friendships, learning life skills, and becoming the future leaders of our communities.

First and foremost, we want to thank A Better View Tree Service and Cassandra for everything you did to bring us to your beautiful community and introduce us to the wonderful people of Gananoque. This event was a success because of your hard work, generosity, and belief in what we do. This success belongs to you.

A heartfelt thank you as well to Play It Again Sports Kingston for your incredible generosity and continued support of our organization. It truly means more than words can express.

And thank you to 99.9 myFM for providing the great music and keeping everyone energized throughout the day.

We are beyond excited to spend the day with your hockey community and help more athletes experience the game we all love.
We cannot thank Cassandra enough for the incredible invitation and for the passion she has shown for growing hockey in her community the right way — by creating opportunities, removing barriers, and making sure more people feel that they belong in the game.
Efforts like Cassandra’s go far beyond one event or one day. The opportunities we create for young athletes today can build confidence, friendships, leadership, and a love for the game that will be felt for generations to come. ❤️🏒
