Years of drought, rising poverty and food insecurity are putting immense pressure on families across the country.

Despite these challenges, SOS Children's Villages Namibia is helping keep families together through family and community strengthening programs and providing quality alternative care when children can no longer remain safely at home.

Thanks to the generosity of Canadian supporters, children are gaining access to education, healthcare, protection and the support they need to thrive.

What does every child need to thrive?

The children in this workshop in the Dominican Republic had plenty of answers: education, family, respect, safety, and the right to be heard.

These are not privileges — they are rights. The UN Convention on the Rights of the Child provides the foundation for SOS Children's Villages' work to ensure children and young people without parental care or at risk of losing it can grow up with the support they need.

Great progress is being made in strengthening digital protection for children across Costa Rica, Ecuador and Peru.

Children, young people, caregivers and co-workers are helping build a culture where online safety is everyone's responsibility. From capacity-building initiatives to high-impact awareness campaigns, the work is reaching communities at scale. For example, in Peru, 'Conectadasos' is an online campaign that has generated more than 4 million views so far.

“Seeing my daughter slipping away, I had no choice but to find help, no matter the distance or cost.”

When two-year-old Sahara became critically ill in rural Somalia, her mother, Madina, feared the worst. Living in a remote village with limited access to food, clean water, and healthcare, the family faced impossible barriers to getting help.

At Baidoa District Hospital, run by SOS Children’s Villages in Somalia, Sahara was diagnosed with severe acute malnutrition and received urgent treatment, specialized nutrition, and compassionate care. Just days later, she was sitting up, smiling, and beginning her journey to recovery. Today, Sahara is growing stronger every day, and her family has renewed hope for the future.

Your support helps ensure children facing severe malnutrition can access lifesaving care when they need it most.

After losing their livestock to drought, Amina and Hirey were forced to leave their homes in Somalia in search of survival. Today, they are rebuilding their lives through climate-smart farming. 🌱

With training in hydroponic agriculture from SOS Children’s Villages, they are growing reliable harvests, earning a steady income, and providing nutritious food, education, and healthcare for their families.

What began as a response to crisis has become a pathway to independence, resilience, and hope.
