Safely dispose of small amounts of hazardous waste without needing a car.

A walk-up Hazardous Waste Event is happening on Sunday, September 20, from 9 am to 1 pm at Lee Valley Parking Lot, 1000 Morrison Drive.

Acceptable items include:

Cleaning products
Caulking
Hazardous aerosols
Light bulbs
Small gas canisters
Batteries
Paint

Up to 20 litres per person.

This event is walk-up only. Please arrive on foot, by bike or mobility device. Vehicles will be redirected to the next large Household Hazardous Waste event.

Giveaway Weekend is back! Join the city-wide treasure hunt on Saturday, October 3 and Sunday, October 4.

Simply place your gently used possessions at the curb during Giveaway Weekend and let someone else discover a new favourite. Then, take a stroll in your neighbourhood and see what hidden gems are out there waiting for you.

Giveaway items could include:
- Books, CDs and DVDs
- Children’s toys and clothes
- Furniture and appliances in working condition
- Kitchen gadgets, dishes, cutlery, pots and pans
- Sporting equipment

At the end of the day, bring any uncollected items back inside. What hasn’t found a new home can be donated to charitable organizations, shared through your local Buy Nothing Facebook group, or posted on other free exchange websites.

Today, August 13, is Miracle Treat Day at Dairy Queen Bells Corners (2036 Robertson Road). On this special day, 100% of the net proceeds from every Blizzard Treat sold will be donated to support local children’s hospitals through Children’s Miracle Network.
