There are moments in life that bring us back to the things we were always meant to carry forward.

For Chanelle Barnaby of Natoaganeg (Eel Ground) First Nation, that came through beadwork. As the artist and founder behind Fox & Feathers, Chanelle has built a business rooted in creativity, culture, community, and connection. From her intricate beadwork and fur creations to her work teaching others, she has found a way to turn something deeply personal into something she can share with others.
Now, after seven years of building Fox & Feathers by figuring things out as she went, Chanelle is ready to take her business to the next level as part of ADAAWE’s Wejibàbandan cohort.

Her story is one of finding her way back, and discovering what is possible when you give yourself the space to grow. We’re proud to share Chanelle’s story and welcome her to our Wejibàbandan spotlight series.
Read The Art of Finding Her Way Back: Chanelle Barnaby of Fox & Feathers at the link in our bio.

Today, September 30, we honour the children who never returned home, Survivors of residential schools, and the families and communities who continue to carry their stories and memories.

At ADAAWE, we honour this day by remembering the past while also working toward a better & more healed tomorrow. Reconciliation is ongoing work, and for us that means supporting Indigenous self-determination and creating opportunities for economic reconciliation.

Through entrepreneurship, community, and economic empowerment, we work alongside our peoples to help build a future grounded in strength, independence, and opportunity.

Today, we remember and honour. And we continue the work toward a better tomorrow.
