Morning program update! ❄️

Our Ice Skating Academy has made a return this year and will continue Tuesday mornings for skaters at the Star 1 level (CS Stage 6 by invite) and higher. ⛸️

For the first time during our regular season, we are also introducing PowerSkate on Thursday mornings for hockey players ages 9 to 13! 🏒

Both programs run from 7:15 - 8:15 a.m. for 14 sessions, and skaters attending Osoyoos schools will be bused back after each session.

Save the Date: The Snowball Classic! ❄️⛸️

Sun Bowl Skating Club is excited to host our inaugural Snowball Classic on Saturday, October 24, 2026, at the Sun Bowl Arena in Osoyoos!

This special competition will be open exclusively to Sun Bowl Skating Club members in Rising Stars and STAR 1–4. Competition registration will open closer to the event, with complete details to be shared as soon as they are available—stay tuned!

Have a committed CanSkate Stage 6 skater who may be ready for their first competition? Our new Rising Stars program could be the perfect next step! Skaters will receive consistent coaching while developing their figure skating skills, preparing for assessments, and gaining experience for opportunities like the Snowball Classic.

Where does a great skater start? With the basics!

CanSkate is Skate Canada’s nationally recognized learn-to-skate program, designed to build the fundamental skills used in:

A new skating season is right around the corner, and registration is officially OPEN for all Sun Bowl Skating Club programs!

Whether your skater is stepping onto the ice for the very first time or continuing their journey through STARSkate, we have a program for them!

NEW PROGRAMS THIS SEASON!
We’re excited to introduce TWO brand-new programs:

⭐ Rising Stars – A new pathway for CanSkate Stage 6 and early STAR 1 skaters looking for additional coaching, faster progression and an introduction to STARSkate.

⛸️ Teen & Adult Learn-to-Skate – Finally, a learn-to-skate program specifically for ages 13+! No previous skating experience required.

NEW TO SKATING? We’ve got you covered!

❄️ Pre-CanSkate – Perfect for our littlest beginners, generally around ages 3–5, who are taking their very first steps on the ice.

⛸️ CanSkate – Canada’s learn-to-skate program for beginners up to age 12! Build confidence and fundamental skating skills for figure skating, hockey, ringette or simply skating for fun.

And of course, registration is also open for all of our returning STARSkate programs!

⭐ RISING STARS
Designed for motivated CanSkate Stage 6 skaters who are ready for an extra challenge and want to begin their transition into STARSkate!

⛸️ TEEN & ADULT LEARN-TO-SKATE
A welcoming program for skaters ages 13+ with little or no skating experience. Whether you want to skate recreationally, keep up with your friends or family, prepare for an ice sport, or simply learn something new - this program is for you!

As these are brand-new programs, registration numbers will determine whether we are able to run them this season. Getting your registration in early helps us know there is enough interest to keep these programs on the schedule!

A huge shoutout to our CanPower and PowerSkate participants for an absolutely incredible season! 💙⛸️

This was our very first year running these morning programs and we truly could not have asked for a better group of athletes, families, coaches, and Program Assistants. The commitment shown by everyone involved was amazing; with near-perfect attendance almost every single morning!

From early alarms to early ice times, these skaters showed up ready to work hard, push themselves, and improve every day. We had so much fun “kicking these kids into shape” 😉 and somehow they still made it to school afterwards with smiles on their faces!

It takes a lot of dedication and commitment to come train before the school day even starts, and we are beyond proud of every participant who took on the challenge this season. Thank you to everyone who helped make these programs such a success - we already cannot wait for next year! 💪❄️✨
