As wildfire response across the Okanagan begins to transition into recovery, ALERT remains available for anyone who still needs help with their animals.
Our teams will continue maintaining animals on properties currently on our list that remain under Evacuation Order, in areas where we are authorized to access.

To everyone beginning to return home, we are so happy to see more families getting back. To those still displaced, waiting for answers or facing significant loss, our support continues.
PLEASE WATCH FOR ANIMALS AS YOU RETURN HOME
As roads and neighbourhoods reopen, please watch carefully for wildlife as well as domestic animals that may have been displaced by the fires.
Animals may be moving through unfamiliar areas, crossing roads or appearing in places where they would not normally be seen.
Please slow down, drive with care and give animals plenty of space.

QUILPITUK WILDFIRE: CENTRAL OKANAGAN
Evacuation Alerts remain in place for areas affected by the Quilpituk Wildfire. Anyone under an Alert should remain prepared to leave on short notice if conditions change.

BRADLEY CREEK WILDFIRE / OKIB RECOVERY
As OKIB transitions from response to recovery, ESS supports are beginning to wind down while recovery supports become available.
The OKIB Community Resiliency Centre is open to both OKIB members and non-member residents and can provide information and guidance on recovery supports.

Whether you are home, still displaced, waiting for answers or facing significant loss, please know that support does not end when an Evacuation Order is lifted. There are many organizations including ALERT, that will continue to assist people and their animals in the coming days and throughout recovery.
Food banks, Indigenous organizations, faith communities, service groups, local businesses and many other organizations across the Okanagan are also continuing to help.
No one organization does this work alone. We are all stronger when we share resources, support one another and focus on getting people and their animals through the difficult days and into recovery.
To every organization, agency, volunteer, donor, business and community member who stepped forward across these wildfire responses, thank you.
Recovery does not end when you walk back through your front door. For many families, that is only the beginning.
Please reach out when you need help, continue looking out for one another and drive with care as people and animals make their way home.
