Don’t forget to sign up for our special planting event at McLaughlin Bay Wildlife Reserve (MBWR)! Saturday June 20th, 10am to 12pm.

We’ll be adding beautiful native species to MBWR above ground planting beds that allow us to restore ecologically biodiverse habitat for pollinators and wildlife without disturbing the natural soil layer. Learn hands on how to support the local ecology and protect archeological potential at this special site.
Bring your enthusiasm and your love for nature. It’s fun, it’s meaningful, and it’s a great way to spend time outdoors with your community.

Great news for our visitors and volunteers! Thanks to the incredible support from our Love the Marsh Fundraising Campaign, Friends of Second Marsh funded a seasonal portable toilet at McLaughlin Bay Wildlife Reserve.
From May through October, this small but mighty addition helps make time on the trails more enjoyable and accessible for all.

Your donations make a real difference thank you for loving the marsh as much as we do.

Spotted invasive plants popping up in your garden this spring? 🌱 Now is the best time to act, as removing them early can help prevent them from taking over later in the season.

Proper disposal matters just as much as removal. Place invasive plants in black garbage bags and leave them in the sun for 1–3 weeks to fully dry out before disposing of the bag in the landfill. This helps prevent regrowth and seed spread.

🚫 Never put invasive plants in compost or yard waste bags, as this can unintentionally spread them to new areas.

For more information on how to properly remove and dispose of invasive plants visit https://www.invadingspecies.com/downloads/terrestrial-plants/
