On Saturday, June 13, we had the pleasure of being part of the collaborative team that hosts Youth Pride Durham. We are honoured to partner with community agencies to host Youth Pride events -- creating spaces where 2SLGBTQI+ youth and families feel supported, respected, and celebrated.

We take part in this work because every young person deserves to know they are valued and that their community will stand up for them. Through collaboration with partners, we raise awareness, share responsibility for advocacy, and help foster greater understanding of the realities and challenges many 2SLGBTQI+ youth and families face.

Youth Pride strives to create opportunities for connection, learning, and joy—bringing people together to celebrate diversity, encourage self-expression, and promote respect for all identities. Together, we are helping to build inclusive communities where everyone can feel safe, seen, and empowered.

Thank you to all the volunteers who make Youth Pride and Drag Queen Storytime events a huge success. Through your time, energy, and support, you helped create a space where young people can feel seen, valued, celebrated, and safe to be themselves.

In celebration of National Indigenous History Month, we attended the celebration presented by the Bawaajigewin Aboriginal Community Circle in Oshawa. The weather cooperated, giving us a wonderful opportunity to enjoy the entertainment, food and educational opportunities to learn more about Indigenous peoples, history and culture.
