Indigenous Initiatives is a part of Carea Community Health Centre which is a registered charitable organization providing a variety of free, community programs and services including: health promotion and wellness programs; primary care, counselling and mental health; diabetes education; Hepatitis C screening, treatment support, education and outreach; geriatric assessment & intervention; young pa

rent support, youth programs, Indigenous programs; street outreach to the unsheltered and community development programs. Our expert teams work to provide holistic care, support, and wraparound services that empower clients to improve their health and wellness. We strive to be accessible to those in the community who face access barriers like culture, gender, geographic isolation, homelessness, language, physical disabilities, poverty and race. We have sites in Oshawa, Whitby, Ajax and Pickering and serve all ages.

Join us for the Mississaugas of Scugog Island First Nation’s 28th Annual Powwow on July 18 & 19, 2026!

All are welcome to come and experience this special gathering as we celebrate culture, tradition, and community.
Enjoy traditional dancing, powerful drumming and singing, delicious food, and a variety of local artisans.
